The waves, or vlny is a really great movie. I am sure that many people may find a lot of mistakes there, but I am simply a fan of this kind of format.

Basicaly, it is a fictional story set in a real historical events with real people. To foreigners these people will be mostly unknown, just like the event, but to me it is always interesting to watch how people behave in these situations that actually happened. The decisions they were facing, the joy and stress they had.. I had to pause the movie many times to actually google the real story of the people from the group.

I have many times passed the building where this event happened and I have always admired this event.

The movie starts pretty slow. And in fact first one and half hour is the "boring introduction", but I must say that I even got fully caught into this part of the movie. The remaining 30 minutes was dramatised, but not into the extremely unrealistic superhero last second drama nonsense.

After all, this movie is simply a great fit for me. The actors played very well, the soundtrack, everything was simply super interesting to me. The only one thing I could criticise was the fact that they did say what is real, what was fictional... Simply at the end of the movie a short description could be added like with many other movies.

Zizka was one of the biggest czech army commanders. Every kid knows this and there is a lot of refence to him. Even an entire neigbourhood of Prague is called Zizkov and the 4th biggest equestrian statue in the world overlooks the neigbourhood, so....

I wanted to learn more about this person. Unfortunatly, the movie gives a completely different picture. The entire movie is basically about kidnapping a women. This event was not even significant enough to be taught on the czech history classes... It does not even say anything about the Character of Zizka (just to say, the movie is called Zizka in the original language).

For the fact of the completely misleading name, the fact that it is a history movie, but doesn´t even picture the important, the fact that even the author himself admitts that impression was more important the historical fact, I have to rate the movie this low.

On the contrary, he who does not care about history and only wants to watch fighting and love story Troy/Gladiator-style movie that is not from Hollywood, this may be a great match. The scenes are very professional, including all it should have.

This is a cute, lyric movie, where the main protagonist is a talking dog. A little cultural background is that czech people are one on the most god-loving nations. The dog is the best friend and also the movie is often promoted in the Czech showbusiness room and ads. I doubt any such marketing and PR would be done abroad.

Nevertheless, the movie is good especially if you just want something relaxing and harmonic. Something that makes you think about friendship and similar topics. It is like a poem.

Although I personaly do not like most of the actors in this movie, I still think that oveall it is a cute story that many people can enjoy.
