I saw this on the movies as a 10 year old, 20 years later with my children and just recently with my grandson. It's that type of movie you can't get enough of, everytime I see it I peal of new layers, it's a masterpiece.
Reodor Fälgen is a bicycle repair man in a small village on the top of the mountain. When he learns he's former helper has stolen the design of he's super-redometet-distributor and use it to become a suscessfull race car driver Reodor desides to build hes own race car. After struggle with solving the financing he builds Il tempo gigante, the fastest race car ever.
Fun fact, this movie was the inspiration for Christian von Koenigsegg to build supercars.

Poppe did catch the feeling and the essence from Vilhem Mobergs books with telling the story with his own words, the great author would have been proud.
Just go see it, no need to read the books before.

When I saw it first time it was just another funny B-movie, but seen today, what can I say, it's come true, thou stupidity is not by heritage it's contagious.
