I'm so happy I saw this movie before reading these reviews because it's a lot of fun and I loved it!
The weirdest part of the reviews is how much some people don't like the main guy. He's awesome! And, at least to me, is an extremely likable character.
I'm usually not this far from agreeing with the ratings here, but this movie has way more strange and negative reviews than it should. I genuinely don't understand it. My best guess is some reviewers don't realize this movie has a lot of humor. Some lines are straight up hilarious! But maybe some are mistaking the humor for sincerity and that's throwing them off.
I saw it for the first time a few years ago and finally decided to write my own review. I feel like I need to defend this one because I'm about to watch it for the fifth time and I rarely rewatch movies.
Great film! Fun ride! Excellent actors!

I think this show will be difficult for many people to review without feeling one of two ways. Either super hyped because they're MrBeast fans or overly upset because they'll see it as a ripoff of Squid Games. With that said, here are my thoughts as a former tv game show producer.
There's no denying it's a derivative of, or inspired by, Squid Games. But I'm okay with that because it's done really well and a fun ride! I was entertained by the games, the contestants, and the twists and turns. And the pacing is solid without being exhausting.
For me, I thought it was a great version of a concept I already liked and will happily watch every episode if they keep making them as good as the first two 👍

Something is missing but I can't quite put my finger on it. Here's what I'm seeing as a former reality and game show producer:
The contestants, audience, and judges feel overly produced (conditioned on what to say and how to say it). The Ring doorbell guy has an impressive resume, but I can't remember when I saw someone this boring on tv. When he speaks it sounds like he's always in the middle of giving a TedTalk. That may be overly critical, but I can't get past it. The Amazon judges are also lackluster. And the people pitching their ideas are not that likable. Usually casting is the key to a show like this.
The show is polished, I'll give it that. But that's also its biggest problem. I haven't felt an ounce of authenticity or been able to force myself to be interested after watching five episodes.
I didn't mean for this review to be so negative. I think it frustrates me because it has potential and I wish it turned out to be a better show.
