Understanding that I have been a huge fan of Mary Louise Parker's for a long time, I found her to be exceptionally brilliant in this film. She is believable, and I found myself totally entranced in her role as a devoted, incisive Mother. Also, the story line was not predictable, which kept me intrigued all the way through. An exceptional movie in my opinion, and I want to own it.
One word that helps describe Mary Louise Parker as an actress is "mesmerizing." Her facial expression are enthralling, and she has a slight hesitation in her responses that leaves her open for clear thinking, regardless of the movie and the story line. Fried Green Tomatoes was another movie I recall where she was captivating in her hesitancy and attitude.

My sister and I saw this movie years ago and LOVED it! We enjoy a before-and-after story, and this movie depicts this theme beautifully. It covers the horror of a car crash, the heartbreak of being divorced for shallow reasons, the medical community at its best, and a love story with a happy ending.
I want to own this movie.

I have watched this movie over and over again through the years. First of all, I like happy endings. Secondly, we have deaf friends and also our daughter is a deaf interpreter in our local school system. Thirdly, Lindsay Wagner is one of my very favorites along with Anne Archer, Christine Lahti and others. I'll admit it gets a little slow moving during the part where Lindsay Wagner has a relationship with the main character for the movie taken from a book she wrote. But it depicts a dedicated and committed mother and a talented, professional, but sensitive and sweet deaf educator, and best of all the loyalty and support of a dear, dear friend. You just can't beat all that!!
