This is one of those movies that is bad, but good at it. The genre would be supernatural teen comedy, and the plot can be described as "highschool looser becomes an 80's Cinderella, because she's actually a witch" to save us some time.
This is not a matter of lack of realism ("witch" is in the tittle, is just dumb to ask that), just a matter of a poor script and lousy execution.
The ultra cheesy, badly acted, awfully written moments are hilarious and you end up loving it. Did I mentioned this has some musical numbers? A locker-room packed with uncoordinated cheerleaders that bounce around singing the stupid but extremely catchy "I like boys", and the memorable out of sync rap battle "Top that".
If you like to laugh at bad movies, this one doesn't disappoint. I've seen this 5 times since i came across a VHS copy in the 90's, and it never stops being funny.

Steve Martin's best movie, in my opinion.
I would describe this as a supernatural screwball comedy. Some people pointed out the plot is ridiculous, and well, it's supposed to be. If you need something realistic, then this movie is not for you (neither is the entire sub genres this belongs in).
The plot is the following: A frustrated lawyer named Roger (Steve Martin) has an eccentric not-likable rich woman for a client named Edwina (Lily Tomlin) that has always been sick, and is now dying. Her plan is to make a healthy beautiful woman her heiress, and trans-mutate her soul to her body to finally have a life and be able to do the things she always wanted but couldn't do. Things don't work out as planned and she ends up sharing his body. Initially they hate each other but, forced to be in close proximity, they get to know the other better and star caring for one-another.
Steve Martin does not play Ewdina very convincingly in my opinion, he's very exaggerated and a bit extra flamboyant, but it's still very funny.

You know those TV shows that are completely predictable, and have stereotypical characters and cheesy dialog, but you still feel like coming back? Well, this one is like that.
This was based on the movie "The Heavenly kid" (i don't know if they got paid for it or not). Basically it's about an angel (a guy who died in the 50's, there's a lot of references to that time period, as i recall) who gets missions on earth to help people. Each episode, he would help someone with some crossroads in their lives, to change their destiny for the better.
It had potential to be a weekly waste of time of the supernatural nature, such as Medium or The ghost whisperer. It was "feel good" type of show, that was the strength of it. Think of Touched by an Angel, but with a not so holy angel and no sidekicks.
Felt more like a 90's show than an 80's show, maybe that's why it failed. There's only 12 episodes, and i got to see 5 (probably, not sure). I remember the cinematography of this was very nice for the time (but i was 7 when i saw this, i might be wrong), it probably was too expensive to shoot.
As far as i know this is not on DVD. And, yes, I looked for it everywhere.
