If you enjoy indie thrillers then you won't want to miss this one. The Cold Father is a well shot, fast paced, properly acted film about a father searching for his daughter. It just happens to be that the father was recently released from prison and his daughter has seemingly gotten mixed up with some shady people. Being from the states it is fun to see indie films set in locations I've never been before. From Johannesburg to Cape Town South Africa the locations are beautiful! The cinematography was well done, although it was a bit shaky at times for me. A stand out scene was the really cool dolly shot that circled the talent during an interrogation, it wasn't till the end credits that I saw it wasn't actually a dolly but some kind of raised platform DIY setup. Always super cool to see a little behind the curtain. All in all I would say The Cold Father is a good watch if you are up for a brisk 74 minute Mystery Thriller!
A Town Without Halloween is an Indie Film that feels like it came straight out of the 80's. If Halloween Town and Gremlins had a baby this would be it!
The film doesn't take itself too seriously and that really helps sell the light hearted fun vibe of the film. Directly from Disney's playbook the parents are ignorant dummies and it's up to the kids to save the day and keep the baddies from ruining Halloween forever!
While some of the acting is a bit rough, for a Kids/Family movie it's right on par. I will say there are a couple swear words and it might get a bit dark at times for younger kids. But overall A Town Without Halloween is a fun family friendly film!

First off, be warned, this is an INDIE FILM and there is NO NUDITY, so if you don't enjoy either of those things then The Misadventures of Mistress Maneater is not for you. BUT.... If you like indie films with WITTY WRITING and a STRONG FEMALE PROTAGONIST then stay tuned!
Writer and Lead Actress, Lorrisa Julianus, did a wonderful job at bringing the brilliant yet downtrodden Ava to life. The relationship between Priest Radovan, played by Mickey O'Sullivan, and Ava was a fun mashup that I hadn't seen before, that being priset meets dominatrix. Lol. Both are talented actors and their performances never pulled me out of the story.
Now for the bad, I do feel the film could have been just a bit shorter coming in at almost two hours long. The lighting and sound was not the best as some of the dialogue sounded blown out and the lighting was a bit meh at times. But, that is to be expected with indie films. So like I said, if you enjoy Indie films with a strong female lead, good humor, and unique twists then definitely give The Misadventures of Mistress Maneater a try!
