When will these endless franchises end? Lame stories, with stupid deaths, the only thing worth watching in this was Tony Todd who (weakly) connected this trash with the original lame series. The first movie was like the first Friday the 13th. Interesting and original. Then, like these weak as hell Jurassic park movies (the same movie now what? 15 times? When will science learn?) The deaths in this one, and the terrible depressing ending.... were nearly too much to take. I wasn't in suspense. I wasn't grossed out. I was bored nearly beyond belief. Even my popcorn was bored! PLEASE STOP with the endless sequels. They are just weak as hell. This one was the worst of the bunch.
It's a tremendous, excellent Superman movie! Yes, James Gunn, creator of irreverent films, once fired (foolishly by an overreacting Disney/Marvel) has done what Uber Hack Zack Snyder couldn't, and breathed new life into Superman! As good as the 78, David being a truly humane and reachable Superman, Rachel bringing great life to Lois Lane, Wendel as a superb Perry white and, bringing in Krypto (who, for me, steals the movie!) along with Nicholas Hoult as the most evil, easily hated Lex Luthor of all time (and let's hope he won't be in the sequel. Superman has quite a few other villains), puts together a great movie. Originally, seeing all the other heroes, I wondered why? Well, that question has been answered! Another great thing, they didn't recreate his origin! No one needs that! This is a great, fun movie that really highlights the man of steel. None of Snyders dark silliness, or Singer's over abundance on the '78. A good, new, fresh look on the man of steel! Go Krypto!
I constantly am amazed at the ratings on IMDB.com. That this movie, this fun, reverent look at the video stores of the 1980's doesn't have a higher rating, at least an 8, amazes me. A tremendously fun film, just make sure to pause when they show the titles of the movies in the faux video store. Many homages to the franchises of the 1980's abound here! The two leads are tremendous. The young woman, YaaYaa, who returns her dead fathers old videos, including the Videonecomicon (a brilliant wink at the audiences) which sends the two plummeting into an alternate dimensions where certain characters from movies come alive! They have to figure out how to survive this night! WATCH THIS MOVIE! It's better than anything the Asylum or any horror comedy of the last five years.
