I liked the film very much, an interesting perspective of an episode of a catholic nun's life. The film is very deep and touching from the very beginning to the end. The actress is amazingly perfect in this role - a beautiful and intelligent young woman with a very interesting personality. Most part of the film you feel pity for her isolated life dedicated to the church. You wish she could enjoy life like anybody else, love, be loved and be happy, however... What is the definition of happiness? Who said she, or someone else, cannot be happy living a spiritual life? As for love, she does have it. It's different, but it's what she knows. Her character is shown in the film with great tenderness, respect and care. Pure, innocent and again, very touching.
Comments to the plot summary: the absence of our usual comfort doesn't necessarily mean "Neolithic Era" :) What this film has to offer is not what you see on the screen. It's what it makes you think about. It's the memories that it brings. It's much more. You might feel pity for these people in their remoteness, but, in fact, we should feel pity for ourselves in our addiction to comfort and lack of pure human interrelationship. They've definitely got it. It's about us, good and bad, silly and wise.. it's about kindness that is still there, deep inside us. It's about the beauty and magnificence of nature, which is our primary government. Purity, genuineness and reflection... Thank you, Mr. Konchalovskiy!
