It begins a few hours before the start of D-Day (H-Hour) of the Normandy invasion. Operation Overlord was the code-name for the Allied operation for the Battle of Normandy, which launched the successful invasion of Nazi-occupied Europe. This, alongside Operation Neptune, would become known as D-Day. A team of paratroopers led by Sergeant Eldson (Bokeen Woodbine) are heading into Germany with orders to take down a Nazi radio tower from a church. Private Ed Boyce (Jovan Adepo) reunites with Corporal Ford (Wyatt Russell). Boyce spots Eldson being found by a group of Nazi soldiers and they see an execution. Ford keeps Boyce quiet as they move and find Tibbet (John Magaro), Chase (Iain De Caestecker), and Dawson (Jacob Anderson). Stop the unstoppable !.
Overlord (2018) belongs to warfare genre, as well as creepy and horror film, professionally though flawed, directed by Julius Avery. What begins as a typical WWII commando war story in which a group of American paratroopers jump into Nazi-occupied France to carry out a mission essential to the success of the landing: to destroy a radio transmitter installed on a tower; however quickly turns into a horror film in this film, in which American soldiers discover, in the midst of an important mission, a macabre laboratory for Nazi experiments.
Produced by the famous and prestigious J. J. Abrams and directed by Julius Avery (his second film after Son of Gun) has an international cast with not too well-known actors, such as: the British Jovan Adepo (Fences), the American Wyatt Russell (22 Jump Street), the Danish Pilou Asbaek (Game of Thrones), Iain De Caestecker (Agents of Shield) and the French Mathilde Ollivier The Wailing, Sarah Bernhardt).
The film featured more practical effects rather than the standard CGI effects most movies use and it took various hours each day to apply the face makeup to Pilou Asbæk. And some scenes in which human members snap back so fast causing bones to stick out of the chest were done with old school puppetry and animatronics. It delivers a scary, dark and eerie ambient thanks to expert cameramen Laurie Rose and Fabian Wagner. As well as a frightening, suspenseful and chilling musical score by Jed Kurzel. This WWII/horror movie picture was passably directed by Julius Avery, though with no originality and it has some flaws and gaps. Julius Avery has directed a few decent films, such as : Samaritan (2022) with Sylvester Stallone, Overlord (2018) with Iain De Caestecker, Wyatt Russell, Pilou Asbæk, Son of a Gun (2014) with Ewan McGregor and Brenton Thwaites and a non-sense , late night horror film The Pope's Exorcist (2023) with Russel Crowe. Rating: 5.5/10. The picture will appeal to Wartime buffs and terror genre enthusiasts.

Whatcha gonna do?. Ride together! Die together! What are you gonna do? If you can't stand the heat, get out of Miami! On the lam: Bad Boys style. Miami's finest are now the most wanted !.
This is a run-of-the-mill police action comedy filled with suspense and explosive action with the usual daring ode to excess from prolific producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Michael Bay made his directorial debut-after stints in the world of advertising and music videos-with Bad Boys, and after that going on its sequels. His first and highly profitable collaboration with the successful blockbuster producer, with whom he directed other hits such as The Rock, Armageddon, and Pearl Harbor. This fast-paced film includes frenetic and extremely over-the-top action scenes, thrills, loud chases, plenty of violence and full of cold-blooded murder. The somewhat crazy police officer Will Smith is always on the edge, together with his partner, the kind and good father Martin Lawrence, they once again offer sympathetic performances, providing special chemistry between the two actors. Violence, explosions of blood, frantic car chases and destruction have no limits in this film.
To exploit this formula, which proved infallible in the first installment, Bay enlisted the same duo, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, for whom the super-success of the saga marked an international breakthrough, especially for the first; but both had already triumphed as comedians in their television series. Theresa Randle also returns as the wife and Joe Pantoliano as the bossy chief. And this time, they are joined by the extremely badass Peter Stormare, as well as Jordi Mollá, and the other villains. 'Bad Boys' also features other supporting actors and familiar faces, such as: Michael Shannon, Jon Seda, Yul Vazquez, Jason Olazábal and Henry Rollins.
The motion picture was professionally directed by Michael Bay, following his own trademarks. May is considered to be one of the best commercial filmmakers in Hollywood . In fact , in 1995, Bay was honored by the Directors Guild of America as Commercial Director of the Year. That same year, he also directed his first feature film, Bad Boys (1995), starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, which grossed more than $160 million, worldwide. His follow-up film, The Rock (1996), starring Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage, was also hugely successful, making Bay the director du jour. Following other boxoffice successes such as : Bad Boys II , Armageddon (1998), Pearl Harbor (2001), The Island (2005) , Transformers (2007) and its sequels , among others . Rating : 5.5/10 . Acceptable and decent action/criminal thriller movie.

A group of laid off Yorkshire mill workers come up with unique way to earn some money in this fun Britcom. It is set in the decaying steel mill town of Sheffield in Northern England, friends Gaz (Robert Carlyle) and Dave (Mark Addy) , both now workless and on the dole after the closure of most of the town's steel mills, steal scrap metal from the closed mills to supplement their meager income, often with Gaz's twelve year old son, Nathan (Wim Snape), on the days Gaz has custody. When exuberant Gaz notices the local women lining up to see the Chippendale dancers he persuades his unemployed mates (Mark Addy, Tom Wilkinson, Steve Huison, Paul Barber, Hugo Speer) to launch a striptease act themseves. Six men. With nothing to lose. Who dare to go.... !. The year's most revealing comedy !.
A funny and silly comedy packing emotion, social habits, entertainment and amusement. A half a dozen very enjoyable scenes in this wildly hit comedy are more you might expect from what is essentially an one-joke idea. The plot is plain , simple and well-known: workless Sheffield men of all shapes, ages, sizes, colour and sexual orientation see some male go-go dancers coining money and decide to do a strip show of their own to raise some much-needed funds. Agreeable cooperation from the actors concerned, led by diminutive Robert Carlyle, makes the most of the scattered amusing moments; the sextet, for example, can only learn to move in the queue at the unemployment office in the best funny scenes or in line abreast by imitating the Arsenal offside trap. A rather long 91 minutes ensues, in which there are disconcerting events, funny set pieces and something about the unfortunate situation that unemployed people find themselves in. Nevertheless, it contains lively and charming images , along with evocative cinematography by John de Borman , adding the catching sounds from composer Anne Dudley who won an Academy Award for its music score.
The motion picture was well directed by Peter Cattaneo. He was awarded the M. B. E. (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 1998 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to the British Film Industry. Peter Cattaneo was born (1964) in Twickenham, London, England, UK, where he usually sets his films. He is a director and producer, a comedy expert who has worked for both television and film, especially known for The Rocker (1998), Lucky Break (2001), Little Crackers (2010), Diana and I (2017), Flack (2019), The Penguin Lessons (2024) and Military Wives (2019) and The Full Monty (1997). An sympathetic, attractive and overrated flick, but at least you can't accuse this movie with a serious underlying message of lacking of sense of humour.
