Just saw the movie and the feeling after wards was somewhat "empty".. I do love Peter Sellers Clouseau but didn't have anything against Steve Martin having a "go" at Clouseau. I've loved Steve Martin ever since I saw "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" but I have to say that the "Pink Panther, 2006" was horrible. Well, horrible might be wrong, I did laugh a few times but there where times when I really thought that Steve had taken such a role that he was incapable of playing. I mean there is something about Clouseau that makes it hard to play for even great actors like Steve Martin. Clouseau is dumb but still clever. He's lost but still has a clue of what he's doing, etc... I am not trying to raise Peter Sellers on a pedestal but I just think that Steve Martin never "reached" the true Clouseau. Unfortunately, I have to say. I'd loved to see the "old Clouseau" back in business. Now we only had a cheap Clouseau "rip-off" trying to be funny =( I am terrible at giving "points" for movies but I think the easiest way for me is to ask myself.. "Would I buy this on DVD?". The answer would be, "definitely not!".
I've seen this movie about 30 times and it always makes me feel good.. I don't know what it is about this movie but it seems to help me through bad times. Theres something in the atmosphere in the film that makes me feel good and the environment where the movie is made is just beautiful. (yeah, sure.. the 'real' film critics are saying that you can't rate a movie just on behalf of the spectacular scenery but FU, I say). I can rate a movie just the way i want to! Isn't that what IMDB is all about? I enjoyed this movie and I hope many others will too. Don't stare at the ratings. If you want to see a fun movie that's not too "serious". Rent this movie and let your brain rest for awhile, just enjoy the the scenery, the acting, the story and the eighties !! Cheers to all from Finland.
