Maryade Prashne (2024)
Well acted though poorly written film
The film begins depicting a guy from a middle-class family and his 2 friends. Their day-to-day life is shot well. However, once we go through the conflict scene, everything is poorly written and edited as some scenes feel they have been edited, and a bit of flow is missing. Certain scenes weren't needed in the script, be it Rocky's GF scene, Shetty with his girl, etc. They had no conclusion.
The acting by everyone was great, especially Rakesh taking the lead. Sathisha's mother and father were wonderful.
The music was average.
The beginning of the first half was slow but well-written. Everything later was downhill.
Watched it on Prime.
Mistress America (2015)
Yuck! The direction, the writing, the acting..
An idiot forced me to watch the film and I did. The one liner was good and I expected it to be at least good but the moment the step sister enters the screen I realized this is going to be painful. Grewig's trying to be hilarious or funny doesn't work at all. Her dialogue delivery is so bad that it feels she has memorized the lines and speaks like a decade old robot. Other actors were at least average if not good. 30+ minutes later the setting is one house and everything that happens there including everyone's dialogue delivery is very 'acting' and that too very medieval theatre acting. The dialogues were horrible. There are moments which probably was funny in the writer's mind but the same scene/ dialogue/ body language on screen is meh. It was a 80+ minutes irritating torture. Skip this and go take a nap instead.
Bhairathi Ranagal (2024)
Shivarajkumar walking in slo-mo with a machete in hand
That's what the film is about: Shivarajkumar walking in slow motion, holding a machete and swinging it around criminals who can't even touch him even if they are holding machine guns. This is where the Kannada film industry has fallen. Every other film is about machete or gun violence. But the story is the same. If not this, then it's blind romance with cringe dialogues.
The screenplay of the movie is yuck. The acting too. The actress is a waste. She has absolutely nothing to do in the film. Her character doesn't help the script at all. Someone wrote this film will be Shivanna's career best. LOL. Has these lockdown kids even watched Shivarajkumar films of the 90's and beyond? None of the villains have any strength. They are not scary, they haven't hurt the 'hero', the same Tamil style where poor people are killed and the hero rises to the occasion and easily kills every bad person. I really feel sad on watching Shivarajkumar signing such pathetic scripts. Why would you do so?
How out Kannada film industry was shining in the 60's and 70's with directors like Girish Kasarvalli, Girish Karnad being as good as (if not better than) Satyajit Ray and Ritwik Ghatak. The likes of Puttanna Kangal, Nagabharana, Shankar Nag brought the industry to such a point, that it's hard to believe that we have fallen into the gutters.
Kaal (2005)
Pathetic
Every few minutes for no reason there is loud sounds. Even 2 characters looking at each other has a sudden loud sound unnecessarily. One of them wakes up from his sleep and suddenly a loud BG sound for no reason. In short pathetic background music.
The songs are actually bad. The promotions and SRK-Malaika combination is what made people look up but the songs including "Kaal Kaal pe hum tum" is yuck. The choreography too is meh.
Horrible casting and overacting by Vivek & Ajay. Having Ajay in a Karan-SRK production was probably to appease Kajol and nothing else. Lara Dutta couldn't have acted worse. Even Esha Deol was better than Lara. The supporting cast were good though.
For a second I thought this was directed by Sohum Shah (of Thumbbad fame) but this is directed by Soham Shah. His other films were Luck. He got a platform more than once and he took it lightly. This film had bad writing, bad acting and bad direction. There were unnecessary shots of animals. I had forgotten about the film, so checked it out again. Never again. Such a pathetic film that only a foreign bred NRI Karan Johar could make. The dialogue by Lara Dutta on Mrthunjaya Japa made me instantly realize this is a Karan Johar film and not a Soham Shah film.
The Adventures of Tenali Raman (2003)
Don't show this to kids. It humilates the Vijayanagara Empire: Very British Like
Just because this is made for kids doesn't mean they have to make it like a slapstick comedy. They could have made it serious and yet funny with morals if made for kids. If not made for kids why make it in such a shameless way.
In all episodes except two episodes Emperor Krishnadevaraya is shown as a coward. Only in one episode he keeps fighting with sword and in another he wins in kushti. Is this what we want our kids to learn that Krishnadevaraya was a coward? People don't see this until their kids watch this and learn all the fake history. Since when is Vijayanagara empire or Krishnadevaraya's court dealing only in Telugu? As per history there were use of Sanskrit and Kannada too. Mention it too. Shame. It is evident that this is made to demean the history of Vijayanagara very cunningly. Look at the directors of each episodes and you will know I am right. The voices too and pathetic. This is a good time pass for adults. Don't ever show this to kids.
Kalki 2898-AD (2024)
Cringe
- Deepika & Prabhas face looks like deep fake throughout the film.
- BG music and songs are so bad.
- Typical cliché hero character who is ignorant in the beginning to his lead cause and then something triggers and he changes.
- The VFX is actually bad. Those who gaga over it have not seen the VFX of films like Ra. One or Zero (though their story telling too was meh).
- Prabhas is someone I never want to see ever again in any films. He has no expressions on his face, so blank. He was great in Bahubali. Even Salaar was yuck. This one too.
- Why use Kamal Hassan if you are going to mess him up with prosthetics and VFX? He might have a meaty role in the next part but his talent is a waste here.
- Badly edited: at one moment Prabhas was captured but in the very next sequence of him on screen, he is free and is in his rented home.
- When Krane is bombed with a girl, he comes back but not her. Poor writing.
The Black Cauldron (1985)
The Hobbit's Journey
This film came out in 1985 and is taken from the book of the same name which was out in 1965. It is said that the author got the idea from Welsh Mythology but the story has similarities with the core idea of The Lord of the Rings story and the movie with A Hobbit's Journey. The Lord of the Rings was written in 1954.
Now with the adaptations. The Lord of the Rings first adaptation was in the form of an animation film in 1978 where Gollum didn't speak the way Andy Serkis did later in the live action film. The reason I am mentioning all this is there is Lord of the Rings idea in The Black Cauldron book & movie AND Andy Serkis' representation of Gollum character is clearly copied from John Byner's take of the character Gurgi from The Black Cauldron movie. If you watch this film "my precious" will sound not so great or original. And is no doubt immensely talented but every year something or the other part of my childhood is shattered by truth behind certain movies, songs, etc.
As for this film, the story is basic and cliche but ends well though in a very easy way. As for the animation it is 'good'. There were moments when I felt the animation was lazy or slow. No, not the story, the animation itself.
It Lives Inside (2023)
Slow & Boring
Apart from being cliche in every aspect, the film having an Indian family in it's core story doesn't give anything to the story. One could have had a black family or a Korean family instead and the story would have still been the same and bad at that. What made it horrible for me was the Indian-ness in the film. The mantras/ chants itself felt very fake but the pisaach's costume was like some creature from most Hollywood films. At one point it even looked like a Godzilla baby. What the director Bishal Dutta doesn't understand is the pisaach in it's true form is like a soul. You can't touch it let alone hit it with a mace or a stick. That's what happens in a Godzilla or an alien movie. Anyway the story is cliche from the beginning till the end. For a moment at the climax I thought this is going the Babadook way and it somewhere did.
How I Met Your Mother (2005)
How I met your mother? Anything but that!
How I met your mother? Anything but that.
- Misogynist, Pathetic Acting, Illogical Writing and dumb.
- It took 8 seasons to introduce the titular character: Mother.
- If you watch all the seasons till the 8th season you will realize that every season had nothing to do with the title.
- The 'lead character' forcefully makes his teen kids sit through his short term memories stories that he keeps changing whenever he feels like.
- The narrator and the 'lead character' are different. So meeting mother is OK but now we don't know if the father of the kids and the stories of the father meeting the mother have anything in common.
- The stories or moments are pathetic at most times.
- Every episode has moments where male characters make fun of women in general but the disgusting part is that the female characters too are misogynist in nature whenever the script demands it. Characters are always horny and that's their primary character.
- The characters only talk about their jobs but are in their work place only if the script demands it or there are moments in their respective moments.
- Barney is always about sex and a little over the top about bro code which he never follows and the suit at all weather. He acts like someone hit his head with a hammer. The final season was the worst.
- Robin is such a dumb woman. She wants to be the god mother and fights for the baby but doesn't like babies, doesn't even hold the baby.
- Marshall is played by Jason Segal and he is so horrible in acting. He started pouting after he lost weight, oh that actor did lose weight over the years or over the seasons due to some illness. His pouting and his body language acting like neither a male nor a female is yuck.
- Ted Mosby is an adult who wants the perfect woman to marry and being an adult he doesn't know that to find a life partner is more than just sex. He is not yet out of love for his 'best friend' and yet in just the last few episodes he falls for 'the mother' and eventually marries her? Josh Radnor who plays Ted is such a horrible actor. I just can't imagine why the casting director(s) selected this person.
- Imagine what would go through the kids post this badly written story when they have heard how much crazy their father was for Aunt Robin. Every time they would see her they would recall all what their father said as per his version of what the truth was.
- This series is slightly more disgusting than Two & a Half men which has more witty dialogues though but has the same pathetic acting ft Charlie Sheen who held a blank face throughout the series.
- I took so many years to watch every bit of the episodes because they were so boring but I had to so that I don't have to say anything bad about this series without watching it. Done & dusted.
Indian Police Force (2024)
Badly Written, Cliché Story, Average stunts,
Unlike most Rohit Shetty films where the scripts are average but at least have good dialogues and over the top stunts, here in the IPF the stunts are average, the story is meh and everything else is filled with illogical moments in writing. It's understandable if it was relating to vehicles jumping in the air as that's Rohit's trade mark but silly problems in writing pisses me off.
The good thing is Vivek Oberoi's acting and that he looks like he still is in his 30's. Siddharth Malhotra too is good in his act. Shilpa should have retired from acting and stick to judging and laughing in some pathetic talent shows.
Everythign else is so bad. The very first scene if of a road where the blast has already happened and the street is filled with smoke. No one can see anythign but our hero Sid has to wear his sun shades and everyone walks in slow motion. I don't think there is any seriousness by the characeters of what happened there. As soon as Shilpa enters into the story instead of getting into the seriousness of the case they go for a cup of chai. There are bomb blasts happening and the police force doesn't share anything with the media nor ask the media's help with the sketches. The so called Delhi Police is wearing stylish jackets while hunting terrorists instead of wearing bullet proof jackets while going for the kill. That is absolutely BS. Every once in a while the team walks in slow motion. Every lead is wearing shades all the time. More style and less writing. The VFX of the blast scenes look laughable. And the songs! Oh. My. God! This series is not dedicated to the Indian Police Force. In contrast this is mocking the Indian Police Force. Such a dumb, cliché, appeasement series.
Ondu Muthina Kathe (1987)
India's First Film with Under Water Shots
Shankar Nag brings forward India's first film with scenes shot under water. The film was shot in parts in coastal Karnataka and in Maldives making it India's first film to have shots shot in Maldives though in the film the location is said to be coastal Karnataka only.
As usual Shankar Nag's movies or writings are heavily futuristic or timeless. In 2023 too this film has so much relevance to people's characters. This probably is the only Rajkumar film that I have watched where he plays shades of greed (not counting characters where he plays a double role).
The film though is about fisher folks in the coastal belt of Karnataka, the film's storyline is very much effective for any poor people vs rich (poor and rich in terms of wealth, strength, power, fame etc). Well made film in every department though the songs could have been avoided. But as it is a 1987 film I guess songs were required. This is also Shankar Nag's only directorial with Raj Kumar in the lead. The climax reminded me of the 2019 Malayalam film Jallikattu which also shows human greed throughout the film.
Idu Saadhya (1989)
Shot in 48 hours doesn't mean it's well written or well directed
Kudos for thee world record of shooting the film in 48 hours. It takes a lot of rehearsals and quickness to do that. But if the writing falters, it will take a blind group of fans to make the film a hit. Here even though the film has some stellar cast of Shankar Nag, Anant Nag, Srinath, Devaraj, Tiger Prabhakar, Revathi, Mahalakshmi, Ramesh Doddanna, Avinash, Ramesh Bhatt etc. It still has holds no value over it's writing. The film if it had to be shot in 48 hours, it definitely had to be a single location film, at least when it came to shooting locations. It probably did. The main story happens inside a studio 'house'. But what falls down is the characters and certain scenes. A serial killer guarded in a hospital. Why? The dumb police constables who don't do their duty, the idiot girls who can't stay overnight for drama practice, the dumb security guard who goes home and comes back after the film is done, the cliché writer and his costume, the dumb scooby doo type running around while chased by a serial killer...such moments make it cringe worthy. I love the actors but pathetic writing and direction.
Scream (2022)
I Still Prefer The Babadook
Cliché, greedy film that only wants to squeeze money from it's dumb fans. The film has no, I REPEAT NO story. Everything is cliché. The reasons are dumb for the 'villain(s)' to do what they do. The story line is logic-less especially when the characters no every bit of horror movie scenarios. The masked figure's height is tall-ish and thus it is clear that it can't be any of the girls and yet the climax is illogical. The 'villain' gets shot multiple times and yet doesn't die and actually doesn't get hurt even - he/she gets up and gets going irrespective of being shot or stabbed. Dumb movie for dumbos. Actors with kilos of make-up and Botox are an add-on to vomit all your toxins from your body and spend time in a good nap than waste time in watching this load of crap. As Ortega says I still prefer The Babadook I say the same as The Babadook is a beautiful horror film with a wonderful climax.
Selfiee (2023)
Illogical & badly written with above average dialogues
I haven't watched the original so won't compare it. But solely on the writing of this film especially the moments of driving test is so badly written as if the writer(s) have never been through a driving test. Even Akki's character is badly written and developed. Acting is average. Dialogues are not bad but not great either. Songs are completely ignorable except the usual remake of a well known song too. Of course this a karan johar production. Anything for money. A typical bollywood remake. Why the location in the film is Bhopal? There had. A decent film that went haywire with some really badly written screenplay. This could have been a good short film. I would rather watch the movie FAN again.
Anger Tales (2023)
Meh
There are 4 episodes and none match the title. What is this Anger Tales? Where is the anger and the reactions to it?
In the first episode a film actor's fan group's head tries to screen the actor's film but has problems in screening it. It ends understandably but doesn't have an impact that goes with the title.
In the second episode, a vegetarian family guy living in a vegetarian only building gets married to a woman who is a non-vegetarian. Her doctor recommends her to eat eggs. Very dumb. It has a very simple yet a bland ending.
In the third episode, a house wife is irritated by her landlady's afternoon chit chats. She takes an extreme step. Better episode of the three.
In the fourth, a bald-ish man is trying hard at work and at getting married and fails. This is the best of all the episodes and yet it falls short of excellence.
Monica O My Darling (2022)
Title doesn't match the film but everything else is spot on
A good story for a thriller. I did guess most parts of the thriller expect the climax. I loved the climax shot and where the director chose to end the film. Wonderful. All's well that ends well.
The film's casting is average. Huma, Radhika & Akanksha are average and could have been replaced by people who could act. Everyone else are good in their roles. I just can't bear seeing Radhika's face any longer, the same expressions, the same type of smiles, the same over dramatic facial expressions...she is a torture.
The music is excellent. Of course the 'Yeh ek zindagi kaafi nahin hai' is so 70's and I loved that the most. After Andhadhun (won't count Drishyam 2 as it is a remake) Monica O My Darling is something that has made me really happy about where the thriller genre is going in the dying Hindi Film Industry.
Worth a watch!
Goodbye (2022)
A Good Emotional Ride
The film falls flat in its comic timing though the comedy should have been dark or slightly dark like most funeral comic family dramas do.. There is nothing wrong in the writing apart from certain scenes being overtly on-the-face comedy (the beginning scenes) that is obviously forced on the characters to enact. The writing is slow in the first half and the to & fro to the past and present is definitely not working. The dialogues are again very silly, neither realistic nor cinematic or maybe it's the dialogue delivery because once Sunil enters the frame the dialogues are interesting even after he leaves the frame. There are illogical scenes too (car phone speaker scene).
The casting of Rashmika Mandanna is what brings the bigger part of the film down. She can't speak hindi well. Her pronunciations are yuck. Whenever she speaks either she tries hard on concentrating on her pronunciations or on her acting because none of them works. I think its the language that is holding her back from acting. There is no free flow of emotions.
The film's best moments are by Sunil Grover's Panditji character. Not that I am a Sunil fan but the character is like the savior in the midst of bad acting. Amitabh Bachchan is as usual good but his character is written half heartedly. He has done justice to his role though.
Neena hardly has any dialogue and yet she is a ray of sunshine. The lady who plays the care taker has very little to do but her simple looks and expressions are so much better than Rashmika's acting.
In short, letting the badly written first half, Rashmika's presence & pronunciations, the film in general has a good flow and is worth a watch.
Early Man (2018)
Loosely based on the idea behind Oscar nominated 2001 Hindi film 'Lagaan'.
Lagaan (Land Tax) was about a small village that is forced on giving land tax when the land turns barren. The people challenge the brits to a cricket match where if they win they don't have to pay the tax for 3 years but if they lose they'll pay double the tax. The villagers led by one man start preparing a game that they have no idea how to play untill a royal young woman feels for them and helps them learn the game. Then they win the cricket match in a thriller.
Here too there is a stone age TRIBE that is forced to give up their LAND by the BRONZE AGE MEN to which they challenge them for a game of FOOTBALL and if they win they get their land back or else they'll have to work for the bronze age men.
Nevertheless good modelling and animation. Apart from that it's a dud.
Phone Bhoot (2022)
Disgusting, Badly Written, Illogical scenes & Pathetic Acting
-They have no money and talk about how will they answer their dads about being jobless but in their room/house they have a lot of things/ props (and iphone) that would cost a bomb each in real life. Were their fathers sleeping for 6 months each while these idiots bought all those stuffs? Their fathers spent crores of rupees on these idiots and never checked what they did with those money? Even Ambani would be keeping an eye on his son while spending crores of rupees.
-Kat can stuff kilos of make-up but she will still look 40 years old.
-The 2 actors act like they are 6 year old kids in 25 year old bodies.
-Badly written. Illogical scenes. Dumb characters. The writing is yuck. It's not funny nor thrilling. I have no idea what genre this film belongs as per the director.
-Character assasination: Once again the illiterate bollywood is back at showing Tamilians as SOuth Indians because they have no balls nor any knowledge of South india. The fact that Ishan is a Tamilian doesn't help the story in any way. Which Tamilian speaaks in hindi with his Tamilian speaking father? Once again same as those dumb wirters of Meenakshi Sundar...something taking South India as a joke. Does a punjabi HAVE to drink lassi at all times? Does a Tamilian always drinks coffee? WHat kind of mentally disturbed writer you must be to not understand that bollywood is dead because of writers like these. BTW there is not much of bollywood anyway. It was more of punjabi characters, lyrics & dances with urdu dialogues. There was never hindi anywhere.
-In the trailer they are driving and hit a woman and the car stops by itself. What a load of crap right there.
Ram Setu (2022)
After making prithviraj a joke, chandraprakash dwivedi has made Ram setu a joke too.
Guess what else will Dwivedi spoil! I can forgive Akki for he is only interested in money making and fame. He has lost all shame. He should forever be called the 40 days 'actor'. Shame on Chandra Prakash Dwivedi for going gaga over akshay. His prithviraj was disgusting, so is this.
In the very beginning Akshay says: "Dharam sirf thodta hai jab ki sanskriti sab ko jodta hai." Shame on Dwivedi for writing such dialogues. It's hard to digest that someone who can write an enigmatic Chanakya can write such crap.
Dwivedi probably lost his black money and since then has gone mental & bonkers. He could have all the respect he deserved for Chanakya but no, this man wanted to mess that up. Akshay as prithviraj was not just a shame on history but also shame on akshay. He looked like a joker there and he looks like a joker here. That patchy white bearded look is meh.
The story is very cliche:
Akshya's name here is Aryan Kulashreshta! LOL!
That bathing suit akshay wears is VFX! LOL!
There are people from all ovver the world helping akshay and he speaks to them in hindi. LOL!
Even when everything is in front of them, the characters are looking here and there in many scenes. Very dumb characters.
The 2 women characters that accompany akshay are for show just like every bollywood film.
The VFX is pathetic.
Govinda Naam Mera (2022)
Average First Half, Good Twists in the Second Half
The film's first half is so boring with all lead actors acting like this is their first film. Very badly done. The songs kept making me fast forward the film (on Hotstar). The songs, the music were too boring and weren't helping in the story. The first half of the film was going on to be a comedy. The 2nd half of the film was better than the trailer too. Kiara was probably the best in the 2nd half. Vicky was completely out of place in his character. His look looked fake throughout the film.
The film's twists at the last half an hour makes the entire film bearable. The story felt more of a short story that went Bollywood and when you have karan johar as the producer....all I have to say is Govindaaaa...Goooooovinda!
Runway 34 (2022)
Pathetic
Typical bollywood screenplay
Close to two and a half hours, the film begins with the cliche pilot partying, smoking and what not. Then a clip of his family, then his interaction with his colleagues showing a bit of his character and then in the flight he gets out of the cock pit and gives a bhashan to the passengers and they calm down after knowing that it's not just any pilot but Ajay Devgn himself. LOL. Cliche.
Which dumb idiot in the airport office keeps saying things like it's going to crash, this pilot is crazy etc. Instead you keep your mouth shut and work towards the landing. Calling hospital is advance. Calling fire brigade & ambulances in advance is understandable but asking hospitals to keep 150 bed ready is BS.
Good VFX when it comes to scenes of the aero plane.
I have no idea why amitabh bachchan is shouting. It shows he must have some personal agenda or vengeance against ajaay devgn. Rakul has 450 hours of flying experience. I don't know if that is enough to be a co-pilot because if it is why is rakul acting like she is guilty or scared and when she makes a point (which is in the trailer too) she didn't know it at all as she never looked at ajay when that happened. So logically or writing wise that was a fluke. I did like the climax though.
Window Seat (2022)
Do not believe the 10/10 ratings. Check out the ratings given by people who have given 10/10, even they admit they have not watched the film.
(No Spoilers)
Sheethal Shetty picks up a scene from Agatha Christie's "4.50 from Paddington" and dilutes it to boredom with a 'falling down the slopes' direction.
I am giving this film 1/10 to counter balance the fake, bogus 10/10 ratings by people who haven't even watched the film. My rating would have been at least 3/10 had it not been the paid or blind 10/10 ratings. Every person who gave 10/10 either says they are looking forward for the film or they say the teaser looks good which means they haven't even watched the film. Some have not even watched the teaser. They are praising the songs and the songs are bad! I have reported such ratings and accounts. I watched the film on Zee5. It's a 2 hours film.
I remember Sheethal Shetty from Ulidavaru Kandanthe. She was horrible in that film. She couldn't act one bit. But now she dons the writer & director's hat for this film. And must I say she can't write or direct too.
About the film's story: A guy goes on a train and sees a girl while the train is moving as slow as one would be walking so that the guy can see the girl, her face, her house and much more about her life. Half an hour into the film and we already witness 4 unnecessary songs (that don't help the story move forward). We have no details of the 3 characters that we come across - Bhandary, Sanjana & Iyengar's characters. We have no idea from and to where Bhandary is going. We have no clue what he does for a living (except play guitar and sing at his 'friend's' restaurant where am sure he doesn't get paid because that restaurant is a scam. You will now why after you watch Iyengar's behavior when a customer gives a request on the spiciness of a dish) nor we know about his family or any background. There is unnecessary fight scene, very immature teenage mentality characters in the first half an hour of the film itself. If it weren't for writing at least one review from someone who has actually bore the pain to watch the film, I would have stopped watching this after 25 minutes of nonsense scenes. The essence or the crux of the story is already seen in Rangitaranga - Bhandary plays the same character here too. In short the story is illogical in a lot of places. Shows the dumbness of the writing department headed by Sheethal.
I applaud Sheethal for such illogical writing & to those illiterates who gave 10/10 because they were paid to do this? Or they were blind and deaf.
The film's casting is definitely on the basis of Sheethal knowing the actors and the extras were probably for free. The police characters were so bad that made me wonder if they were acting like this was a TV serial. They have all done a horrible job in the acting department. The over the top acting in every scene is disgusting. The blame also goes to the director who cant handle a serious scene with finesse.
Arjun Janya might have given music to this film but there is not one song that stands out. Yograj's lyrics doesn't help with such music and storyline.
Live Telecast (2021)
Botox Kajal & a bad cast in a horribly written series
When Insta video makers make series this is what happens.
The actors are so bad that it made me disgusted. Their timing, dialogue delivery, their body language, expressions everything feels like they have never faced any camera before.
Kajal Agarwal with her Botox face can't give any facial expressions right. Her expressions are the same in every shot, ever scene. Every person in the series is hopeless when it comes to acting. Everyone's expressions are so fake.
The intentional comedy here and there doesn't make anyone laugh instead makes the pathetic storyline go worse. The cheap romance too has no strong base and doesn't add to the story. The writing is logic less at every horror or pre-horror scenes/ shots. Till Ep 5 the story just keeps dragging and doesn't go anywhere. When they are stuck inside the house how is it that people outside watch them on monitors if there was only one camera. There were no CCTV inside the house. Logic less.
Beast (2022)
Dumb Dialogues, Highly Irritating Characters & Cliché Plotline
The film has a cliché plot starting with poachers and then cut to Idris and his team/ family. Like the first Jurassic film where there were less of the dinosaurs and more of people here too we see less of the beast and more of people. Even when we see shots of the lion(s), they are either not great shots or blurred shots which could be great at certain thrilling moments but not here. More lion shots were required and that's disappointing. They enter a reserve forest and yet there is no team to protect the forest or the animals.
Among the characters, whenever there is a teenager it is going to be an irritating film. Not all teenagers are like that but films always depict them as irritating and dumb characters. Every time in every movie where a teenager is told - no/ don't do it, they do it. Maybe that's how usa teenagers are like. Idris is given a dumb character just like his daughters in the film. His character is also too human for him. He is becoming more of a larger than life person in terms of his characters by the year. So when he acts like a simpleton who can't even raise his hand against his foes, it seems very unlikely. And because of that the climax looks unlikely. I don't think the makers know what one little scratch from a lion can do to you. When you are dumb and you think the man eating lion is deaf you keep honking hard (sic). The 'kids' act like they are 3 years old.
As for the dialogues, they seem very hollywoodish and the kids here feel like they used to live in a bungalow. They act like they read news/ articles about everything but ask dumb questions like what's the Wi-Fi password in the middle of a jungle. I watched this film for the sole purpose of the shots of the lion or should I say the fake lion?
If one country doesn't allow people from another without 'legal' documents, why would wild animals sit quietly when humans enter their area? And with such pathetic cliché characters & plotline, I HAD to root for the lion all the way through. Eventually, I had to re-watch 'The Ghost and the Darkness' to calm myself.
BTW, the Beast was not wrong.
