I could tell straight away this show was largely written by at least one middle aged man. They're not usually ideal for writing shows aimed mostly at young girls, unless they're either very talented or at least have children, preferably the ages of those the show is aimed at. I obviously don't know the personal circumstances of all the writing team, but I see Andrew Ellard's main job is a script editor, a job which he clearly rates himself very highly at, if his online reviews of his own script editing work are anything to go by.
Sadly, script editors, whilst competent enough to write bits and pieces, rarely have the creative brain wiring and artistry of a writer. Their brains are simply wired differently and there's no shame in that, just means they are better equipped for technical roles, rather than creative. Once they reach middle age and haven't managed to break into actual writing yet and are trying children's tv as an in, it's probably best to gently steer them back to their usual field, or this sort of garbage is vomited onto our screens.
Sorry to be harsh, but this was terrible all round, especially the writing. Sadly it probably hasn't done wonders for the young actors involved either and to be completely fair to them, it's probably hard to perform miracles with such a lackluster script.
My kids, at least one of which is definitely of the target audience, both hated it and one even rated it "Worse than Cocomelon" which is highly unpopular in our household.
Please don't make another series. Ever.

I was dubious about trying this one, when I saw Emily Reid was the lead actress. Her acting had previously spoiled a couple of shows for me, so I wasn't thrilled to see her again. But the story sounded intriguing enough, so I thought I'd give it a go.
Once again, her terrible acting let the whole thing down. Who the hell does she know in the business to keep landing these roles? She cannot act to save her life, she doesn't have that special something that makes a good actress, has zero charm or appeal and is just in totally the wrong career. I don't know if it was just the bland, boring and wooden performance she was giving that made the whole thing so unwatchable (I had to quit about 15 mins into episode 2 - I did try, I swear) but it certainly didn't help. It's impossible to get gripped by a "Thriller" if the acting is less than thrilling.
Please, stop casting this woman in roles that are way beyond her skill set. I'm sure she'd make a wonderful extra, but that's about it.
