This is a superb show. Great acting, great story telling, excellent music. It's refreshing after all the formulaic offerings of Hollywood. Inspired by a real-life flu epidemic in Moscow, To the Lake was a number one bestseller in Russia, and has now appeared in a dozen languages and been adapted into a TV series. Biggest turn off for me in an average show is the cookie cutter characters, impossible to care about them. Caring about your characters comes from character building. It's like getting to know a real person. In Epidemia / To The Lake, the audience becomes part of this tragic adventure.
