Started strong. Series about a girl in London who doesn't have super powers in a world full of super powers. Most people get them at 18 but she didn't. The Series goes through a series of funny bits about weird powers, being nice to people who are different, reliving childhood trauma, etc. The special effects are actually not bad for a TV budget show. There are all the normal powers: flying, invisibility, merging through stuff, super strength, reading minds, reading auras, electronic manipulation, etc. Then sadly, near the end of the second season, it became a pride thing. They pulled out all the sad, tired arguements and cring became the norm. It became unwatchable. If there is a third season, we are out. We like being entertained and not preached down to with a bullhorn. Sadly, would not recommend due to the bad politics and preaching. Don't waste your time.
This is the movie that introduced us to VAN HALEN! With songs by THE CARS and CHEAP TRICK. Wow, the music of our youth. Small town drama, captures the tone of the late 70s/early 80s. Parents coming outta Vietnam and that turmoil. From the nunchuks on his dresser to his KISS shirt and mom slipping you a $5 for your big night out. One kid the cops hated and pushed all the bad on. We had our switchblade and girls with tank tops and no bras. It was heaven. The youth center where we all hung out eating candy bars and drinking cokes. Playing pool and ping pong while trying to impress girls. Always a lady running the rec center that cared about the kids. Great slice of life. But the music, the very best!
Based on a Korean drama it feels like a MONK but with a single mom. The shades of liberal pushes through every show. Every member of the police team is a minority with (of course) a minority woman boss. Every couple is mixed race Every episode Every time. It became funny. If they say "circle back" one more time I'm going to go to the bathroom and take a CNN. Every episode has a gay couple. All the cons are good guys just misunderstood by the MAN. White folks are the majority of the bad guys. The writing is good, just like MONK or even COLUMBO before that. The good writing saves the show from being a CNN drama.
