This should have been titled "Valley Girl - The Musical". Probably would have done better. Because it is NOT a remake. So many parts of it are different from the original, because it is really a musical. Standing on its own, it's not bad. They really should have distanced themselves from the original. If you aren't, why not cast Deborah Foreman as Julie's mom? Instead she has one little scene. Too much change from the original to call it a remake It could have been so much better. Just seems like it didn't have the focus to go one way or the other. So enjoy it for what it is - a musical. Not a remake.
So you call it Star Trek and there isn't a single person in starfleet uniform, not a single starfleet vessel so what the heck does it have to do with Star Trek? Simply an embarrassment to the franchise trying to profit off the name. The acting is terrible and the characters are annoying and forgettable. The storyline is stupid and a joke. I can't imagine what the people at the premiere were thinking. Gene Roddenberry would be rolling over in his grave if he had one. If I was in the abomination, I would have my name removed from the credits. Rewatch an actual Star Trek movie instead of this crap.
