- • The statistics
Located 25 km from Amsterdam, it was inaugurated in 1948. It winds through the dunes of the North Sea, and offers a very fast circuit, made up of long straight lines and fast curves.
But the condition of the track, the sand and the very insufficient drainage of rainwater pushed the organizers to no longer include Zandvoort on the F1 calendar in 1972. In 1973 work was undertaken, but the death of Roger Williamson due to track marshals totally overwhelmed by events, lowered this circuit in the esteem of Formula 1. F1 left it in 1985 because it was then completely obsolete.
A new track and the popularity of Max Verstappen allow F1 to return to Zandvoort in 2021.
