A look at the lives of four vampires who've lived together for hundreds of years on Staten Island. The self-appointed leader of the group is Nandor the Relentless, a warrior and conqueror from the Ottoman Empire. Then there's the British vampire Laszlo -- a bit of a rogue and a dandy and a fop, he might say. He's a lover of mischief and a soirée, but not as much as he loves seeing Nandor fail in every attempt. And then there's Nadja: the seductress, the temptress, the vampiric Bonnie to Laszlo's Clyde. Also cohabiting in the vampire household is Guillermo, Nandor's familiar; Colin Robinson, an energy vampire and day-walker of sorts -- he feasts on humans, but not on their blood.

One of the best shows on television right now. A delightful, silly romp with one-of-a-kind characters like Nandor the Relentless and his human familiar, Guillermo. A perfect combination of humor and “horror,” these bumbling vampires make it hard to fear them, but easy to love them. The dichotomy of these characters, one moment attending a city counsel meeting or a jazz-ercise class, the next feasting on the blood of virgins, is what keeps the show so interesting. It begs the question, what does a “modern” vampire look like? Endearing at times, darkly funny at others, What We Do In The Shadows is a show all people should give a try at least once.

Absolutely fantastic tv show. It took the intriguing premise from the inferior movie and really developed the brilliant characters (of course, you can do this with 6 series more so than just the one movie). The whole cast are wonderful, with each character getting their time to shine in the spotlight. Witty and memorable stories with well thought out (and at times absolutely bonkers!) set pieces and character interactions. If you didn't go much on the original movie, it's worth giving this a go... you may be pleasantly surprised.

One of the funniest shows to be based on an equally funny movie. Many probably haven't even heard of the cult classic that spawned this mockumentary-style series and if you haven't go watch that first (you might not find it as funny after watching the series). The show follows a group of vampires and their familiar as they endure various situations both paranormal and mundane. Part of the running gag is that the vampires do not understand the culture and etiquette of the modern world they live in and human life as a whole. Their emotional punching bag of a familiar, Guillermo, is the only competent one and often has to "clean up their messes". The only reason this doesn't get a 5 star is because on rewatch I don't find season 1 as endearing and funny as seasons 2 and 3 (where the show really starts to shine). Still, it is better than the later seasons so I definitely recommend it! A solid start to one of the funniest shows of the past 10 years.
