Borrowed from Dutch thee, from Hokkien 茶 (tê). Doublet of chai.

- tea (especially made from leaves of the tea plant)
Usage notes
In the strict sense thé only applies to tea made from leaves of the tea plant such as green tea or black tea; for any other type of herbal tea tisane or infusion are more commonly used.
