iPad sometimes turn on and sometimes does not.

There are times when I have to turn my iPad on by alternating the home button and the power button. If I take it outside it will not turn on. I have to go back inside and wait and then alternate the home and power button and then I will get to the Lock Screen.this will also happen when I charge it too. The iPad is not hot. But I have to unplug it and it’s like I have to let it cool down and then it will turn on. When I press the home button the screen is black but you can see a slightly illuminated screen, then you press the power button and it’s a black screen. Then after a couple of time alternating this it turns on. iOS is updated, storage is fine and I have tried a hard reset. The only thing I have not done is full recovery because I don’t want to loose all my data.

While you are able to do so, you would be well advised to ensure that you have created (and maintain) a full backup of your iPad. Doing so will allow you to restore your data should you need to do so - either following recovery from a factory restore, or if the iPad requires repair or replacement:

Keeping a viable backup at all times is good practice anyway; it's your insurance policy should the unexpected happen.

Now, having preserved your data, you would be best advised to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad. If repair is required, you'll be in the best possible place to explore your available options:
