Auterion lands key DoD contract for One-Way Attack drones

Auterion, a global leader in drone software, has just scored a major win with the US Department of Defense (DoD), securing a high-stakes contract to develop One-Way Attack drones. This deal cements Auterion’s position as a key player in the US administration’s $50 billion defense push and expands its footprint in long-range autonomous drone systems.

With global tensions rising, the DoD has ramped up its focus on unmanned systems, particularly long-range, loitering munitions that can strike deep into enemy territory. Auterion’s contract is a major step toward building America’s new long-range deterrence force.

“We are ready to build the new long-range deterrence force America needs to tackle new challenges, especially in the Indo-Pacific,” says Lorenz Meier, CEO of Auterion.

Auterion’s battle-tested software will serve as the brains behind these new drones, offering an open-architecture system that ensures rapid adaptability and seamless integration with the broader defense ecosystem.

The Artemis program: Smart, stealthy, and deadly

Under this contract, Auterion will help enhance the Artemis program — a cutting-edge drone designed for one-way attack missions. These drones will be capable of:

  • Operating in GPS-denied and electronic warfare-heavy environments
  • Covering distances from 100 to 1,000 km
  • Flying at low altitudes to avoid detection
  • Carrying various payloads for flexible mission profiles
  • Being quickly deployed and updated in real-time

Designed for mass deployment, these drones will be ground-launched, cost-effective, and packed with smart navigation systems, making them a crucial asset for modern warfare.

Auterion’s involvement in this program not only expands its defense portfolio but also strengthens US manufacturing capabilities. The company is working with partners to set up American-based production facilities, ensuring that these advanced drones are built on US soil.

With this new contract, Auterion is stepping into a leading role in the future of autonomous warfare — helping the US military scale its drone capabilities at an unprecedented speed.
