@daihard oh, what's the sequence like? Is it just iterating through three letters and then incrementing numbers? The Oregon ones are NNNXXX and currently PXX, that newness frequently tells a little about what to expect from a driver.
Yeah that's how it goes here as well. We used to have "NNN LLL" where NNN were numbers and LLL were letters. We ran out of combinations around 2010 and switched to the current "LLLNNNN" sequence.
@daihard ours were LLLNNN and then they just switched to NNNLLL. The ZZZ999 plates were ~2004 and now we're on Q-something. Maybe when we run out this time they'll just stop. ๐ค #BanCars
Def a WA plate. I got in the habit of playing the license plate game while skating around NYC a few years ago, and could identify many plates at a distance of 20 yards while in motion. WA is IIRC the only state that has the state name flush left at the top of the plate, plus it has that Mt Rainier background.
NY is also doing the XXXNNNN iteration thing. We're nearly done with the LXXNNNN sequence, and I expect to see plates starting with M by summer.
It can go both ways though. In my area we have bike lanes everywhere in town, and wide shoulders in the country, and people still choose to ride in the street. Someone on reddit once tried to tell me "well you don't know what's in the lane, maybe they were going around something."
Yeah nice try. I'm riding a motorcycle, I have to process things in the road at a much faster speed. They were going around something? You mean that small branch half a mile back that wouldn't stop a skateboard?
@Karstan I do ride a bicycle too. Yes I know what can be easily ridden over and what you have to go around. And when there are cyclists in front of me I scan the shoulders to see if there's any reason they might suddenly swerve into the highway.
The short answer -- 9 times out of 10 there is nothing that justifies their attempts at suicide. And the rest of the time... half these idiots aren't swerving, they're just riding on the highway. Through rolling hills where traffic might not see them.
