Over a dozen of the snr leaders at #FEMA, including those w/the most #experience in leading #disaster recovery, have either been fired or have resigned, thinning its management ranks weeks ahead of #hurricane season.

The departures in the snr ranks are IN ADDITION to job cuts & resignations of about 1k of the agency’s ~17k employees.

Those changes represent a significant loss at an agency that was already struggling w/personnel shortages as it tried to help communities recover from catastrophic #storms & #wildfires in #NorthCarolina & #LosAngeles, among other missions.

Soon after his return to the WH, #Trump mused about formally disbanding #FEMA. The departures suggest that the agency is already being thinned out.
