Description

When I set a message to a commit and try to do either <c-c><c-c> or :wq the commit action fails silently and I'm back to Neogit view.

If I do the same with command line, I get a valid error.

git commit -m "Message"
fatal: either user.signingkey or gpg.ssh.defaultKeyCommand needs to be configured

So I receive an indication that my .gitconfig is misconfigured.

I believe that the commit operation in Neogit, shouldn't fail silently in this situation.

Neovim version

NVIM v0.10.4
Build type: Release
LuaJIT 2.1.1736781742

Operating system and version

macOS 15.3.1 arm64

Steps to reproduce

  1. Do any kind of misconfiguration in .gitconfig
  2. Stage files in your repository
  3. Press c
  4. Insert commit message
  5. Press <c-c><c-c> or do :wq

Expected behavior

I should get some information about the error.

Actual behavior

Neogit fails silently.
