Have a look at the Zep.cfg file; there is a 'minimal' style, along with options for it to fade away over time when the user isn't typing. The window.cpp file uses that. |

Yes, the fading was designed for a live coding environment where you want people to still see the code, but have the unnecessary elements fade out with time. |
