This project was developed as part of the 2nd Panhellenic Open Technologies Competition in Education for the school year 2019-2020. The project addresses the issue of waste management and aims to provide a solution to the challenges posed by waste accumulation in urban areas.
The (i)bin project addresses the growing issue of waste accumulation outside bins, exacerbated during the summer due to high temperatures. This situation has negative effects, including the release of CO2 and CH4 gases harmful to health and the environment. The project proposes the replacement of existing waste bins with modern models equipped with advanced technology to provide efficient waste management.
The repository is organized into the following sections:
Code
: Contains the source code for the (i)bin system, including Arduino code for sensors, LED indicators, and motor control.TestCode
: Includes test scripts and code used during development and testing.ConstructionMaterials
: Provides diagrams on the materials used for building the (i)bin prototype.EducationResources
: Offers educational resources such as documentation and tutorials for understanding and replicating the project.Photos
: Contains images and photos showcasing the development process, the prototype, and the final system.
The (i)bin project utilizes the following equipment:
- Microcontroller Nano V3.0 ATmega328P CH340G 5V (OEM)
- Wireless module CP2102 NodeMcu V2 (OEM based ESP8266)
