Describe the idea

Currently a restaurant or café will be displayed as vegan, regardless whether diet:vegan is yes or only.

However, many vegans prefer to go to diet:vegan=only places, because of ethics, because of smell, and because potential mix-ups and cross-contamination.

It would be useful if OSMAnd could allow viewing whether a place is vegan only as well as searching for vegan only (and vegetarian only) places, similar to what Happy Cow allows for.

Expected behaviour

Instead of just saying "vegan," the label for a place could say "vegan options" or "vegan only," for diet:vegan=yes and diet:vegan=only respectively.

Alternatives you've considered

I am considering making my own shoddy app for this with Cordova but would be cooler if proper apps like OSMAnd or Organic Maps would implement this.

Thanks for the suggestion — this is a feature request.

As we understand it, you asks us to display and differentiate between two types of vegan-tagged places:

  • diet:vegan=yes → shown as “vegan options”
  • diet:vegan=only → shown as “vegan only”

This should apply both to POI labels on the map and to search/filter options in the app.

You understand correct, yes. That feature would be useful for me and other vegans.
