Description
Related to: Creating perceived value of Robonomics subscriptions and improving user engagement.
Components: Altruist Insight (indoor) and Altruist Urban (outdoor)
📌 Description
Altruist is more than just an air quality monitor — it's a unique user experience. It combines rare sensors:
an outdoor noise sensor,
an enhanced outdoor-grade particulate sensor (PM10/PM2.5),
a barometric pressure sensor (useful for mountain areas and more),
a dual-component design (indoor/outdoor),
…allowing users to capture data from two environments at once.
We propose a light gamification concept for the first week of use — not with competition or rewards, but by inviting users to explore their environment, encouraging initiative, and revealing the value of the Robonomics subscription through meaningful personal insights.
💡 Proposal
Design a set of simple “missions” or exploration prompts for the user’s first week. No rankings or points, just an intuitive way to interact with the device and its data.
Examples:
Dual-room profile:
Place both Insight and Urban in the same room for 24 hours to generate a high-accuracy climate profile.
➜ Helps users compare sensor outputs, and get a rich data snapshot.
Airflow and AC effects:
Capture temperature and humidity changes before, during, and after using an air conditioner.
➜ A simple experiment to understand airflow dynamics.
Evening on the veranda:
Place Urban on the balcony or outside, and log outdoor noise, PM levels, humidity, and pressure during a specific evening.
➜ Let users tag and rate their experience (“summer evening – noisy but fresh”).
Bedroom during a dust storm:
Simultaneous indoor/outdoor profile during an environmental event, such as high PM2.5 or CO₂ levels.
➜ Enables users to capture unique environmental moments.
🗂 Suggested UI features
Ability to name a profile (e.g., “Veranda – Summer”, “Bedroom – Dust Storm”).
Option to repeat the same measurement setup and compare with previous profiles.
Simple “My Profiles” log with date, time, location, name, and summary.
🎯 Goal
Help users:
become actively engaged with the device during the critical first week,
create a meaningful set of personal environmental “snapshots,”
experience the value of Robonomics subscriptions through visibility and continuity of their own data.
