I've been looking for a tool like this for years since rezycle stopped working on more modern versions of macOS. This has definitely earned a spot in my Dock full-time 😆. I do have a few thoughts/suggestions:

  • When you highlight a certain resource group like this:

perhaps there should be a little popup menu that appears when you right click on the highlighted group. It could contain the same options as the "Resources" menu bar option.

I know that the tool bar icons technically can do this but, I think it would be a nice additional way too

  • Maybe something like this as well:

This way, you could enlarge the resources so they could be seen easier, as they tend to be fairly small in dimensions. Those are honestly my only suggestions.

  • Maybe add icon previews for the BNDL resource as well?

Those are honestly all of the ideas/suggestions I could think of at the moment. I have no idea how many features you want to add from ResEdit (like a complete icon editor) but, the more the merrier 😄 👍🏻

Hi @eisnerguy1, thanks for your feedback, I'm glad you like it!

  • Right-click menu: That sounds sensible enough, I could look into adding this.
  • Zoom slider: Some of the thumbnail types, namely PICT, do support changing the thumbnail size via cmd+/-. I realise this is not really discoverable though, so a slider could be a good idea. Note though that this does not enlarge the images beyond their original dimensions.
  • BNDL and more editors: This would be cool of course, but to be honest I don't have a lot of motivation to add more editors. People are generally only interested in viewing/extracting resources, with little need to actually edit them.

You may also be interested in resource_dasm, which can export wide variety of resources (including some that ResForge doesn't support).

  • Yeah, that would definitely help. Thanks for the keyboard shortcut in the meantime. Definitely an improvement in usability when you can actually see what resource is what 😆

  • Maybe not more editors but, icon previews like in the ResEdit screenshot of mine. If not, it's not the end of the world 😆

I've always had an issue with getting resource_dasm to work for some reason but, I'll look at it again. I really do find the gui of ResForge so much more user friendly. Thanks! 😃 👍🏻
