What could we do with this 'starter' that would make it more accessible? Could be a leaflet starter tutorial series ... or a set of starter files for specific data types/tile sets ... or different mapping libraries even (i.e. open layers, leaflet, google, nokia, etc.).

The possibilities ...

I had started an idea around "map sample" a while back... but it never really went anywhere:

It is tied to mapsample.com
The idea was to gather samples (scrape all the vender examples... i.e. https://www.mapbox.com/mapbox.js/example/v1.0.0/), but then add a bunch more from CUGOS.
I think it is a great idea... examples and starters are very helpful... and popular.

Quite similar to this I had put together on my own site just for using the different APIs to generate basemaps - http://www.mapsam.com/mugs/apis/

I like mapsample.com - would be a fun project to get up and running!
