List view

  • Development and testing for support of non-NRAO telescopes (as needed) - MeerKAT holography, based on ARDG proof of concept - GMRT holography, based on ARDG proof of concept

    No due date
  • Development and tests required to add support for single-dish holography. Use cases include the GBT, VLBA antennas, and future ngVLA outlier antennas (if needed).

    No due date
  • Development and tests required to enable Zernicke modeling of measured aperture functions, and the curation/creation of results into a database that can be accessed for use with the AWProjection gridding algorithm. - Enable Zernicke modeling using the output of holog : Integration of plumber into astro-hack. - Tools for analysis/assessment of of model quality - Aperture Zernicke model database structure/api definition and construction - Construction of cfcache for use with casa6 simulation and imaging ? + Demo ) - Demo : Ability to integrate with SirIUS and/or cngi_prototype awproject gridder

  • Development and tests to take the initial demo release forward to be able to support the ngVLA antenna prototype commissioning 2024 and later ngVLA construction. Features will include adding support for ngVLA antenna geometry and panel layouts, and testing the panel adjustment sofware using primary beam models generated from ngVLA antenna simulations with/without known panel displacements. Two additional features/tests required for ngVLA are a demonstration of end-to-end use on VLA data (part of the VLA support milesteone) and a demonstration of 5-point panel adjustment (part of the ALMA support milestone). The ngVLA project will use these results to determine whether the prototype antenna project in mid/late 2024 can or cannot use Astro-Hack. The 'locit' feature is also included in this milestone, to solve for antenna positions from a multi-source observation. This will be required for ngVLA construction/commissioning, but (if needed), the AIPS version of LOCIT is expected to be usable as is for the antenna prototype commissioning.

  • Development and tests required to take the initial demo release to the point where it is usable for the ALMA telescope. New features will include near-field support for holography and support for 5-point panel adjustments and models. Tests could include ALMA holgraphy data with far-field and near-field setups, for either or both of the use-cases of 'holog' and 'panel'. The goal is to provide a replacement for the current modified GILDAS CLIC version used in operations.

  • Development and test of features that will take the initial demo release to being usable for production operations for the VLA. This work will include enhancements to the data extraction, holog, panel code as well as stakeholder validation via comparative and end-to-end tests with VLA holography data.
