As discussed in our dev meetings we plan to remove the old maps by spring 2026.

This issue tries to collect all things that need to be done on removing the old maps:

  • update sources
    • remove maps/* files that are not shared with UnifiedMap
    • move files from maps/* that are shared with UnifiedMap to unifiedmap folder
    • remove "glue" methods from UnifiedMapActivity
    • remove settings that relate to old maps only
    • remove preference keys that relate to old maps only
    • remove assets (drawables, layouts etc.) that are no longer used
    • check whether any models or utils files are no longer used
  • update documentation
    • update c:geo manual
    • check whether c:geo FAQ needs an update
    • update c:geo Wiki
  • close remaining issues that relate to old maps only

Feel free to extend this list as required.
