While creating the object with BasicServer(u'💩') works fine, any call that attempts to repr() that entity throws a nasty looking unicdoe exception:

UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\U0001f4a9' in position 17: ordinal not in range(128)
