Is it possible to enforce a field being non-optional with discriminated unions? #4346

Example code:

const A = z.discriminatedUnion('field', [
  z.object({
    field: z.literal('a'),
  }),
  z.object({
    field: z.literal('b'),
  }),
])

const a: z.infer<typeof A> = {
  field: 'a',
}

a.field

Here, a.field is typed as optional (screenshot attached).

Is there any way to structure this or other zod function that can be used to enforce that that should always exist?

Read through the docs forward and back and couldn't find anything! Thank you for any tips.

This is working fine for me (running Zod 3.24.2). Do you have "strict": true set in your tsconfig.json?
