Welcome to the Eryxian universe, a science fantasy setting born from the real chaos of the GW Orionis trinary star system (GW stands for Gould Window, a region of the sky rich in young stars), yet expanding to encompass cosmic mysteries, ancient technologies, and the very nature of sentience itself. This wiki is your guide to exploring this boundless frontier, a frontier that extends to the furthest reaches of the cosmos and beyond.
The Eryxian universe is not a place of gentle starlight and predictable orbits. Take this system for instance: Eryxia, a planet orbiting within the tumultuous GW Orionis system, a real stellar nursery in the constellation Orion. Here, three stars – Athe, Nyx, and Khao – engage in a gravitational dance that has sculpted a world unlike any other:
- Athe: The primary, sun-like star, providing the foundation of life.
- Nyx: A red dwarf, its eccentric orbit bringing the crimson-tinged Nyx Season and surges of radiation.
- Khao: A distant giant, its millennia-long passage unleashing the cataclysmic Chaos Cycle, a crucible of destruction and rebirth.
Surrounding this stellar trio is a warped protoplanetary disk, a swirling maelstrom of dust, gas, and the building blocks of worlds – a constant reminder of the universe's inherent chaos.
Eryxia itself is a testament to the resilience and adaptability of life. This vibrant world, a key location within a larger, interconnected saga, is characterized by:
- Hyper-Evolution: Driven by radiotrophic metabolism (harnessing stellar radiation), frequent genetic exchange, and the pressures of the Chaos Cycle, Eryxian lifeforms exhibit an astonishing diversity and a unique system of metamorphosis known as Flux-Shift.
- Constrained Existence: A dense, layered atmosphere confines breathable conditions for humanoids to a specific altitude range, shaping the planet's ecosystems and civilizations.
- Hidden Depths: Vast plankton oceans conceal deep-sea volcanic activity and chemosynthetic life, hinting at secrets yet to be uncovered.
The Eryxian universe is not limited to a single planet. It's a vast canvas where civilizations rise and fall, leaving behind echoes of their existence across space and time, stretching from the familiar corners of the galaxy to the cosmic microwave background radiation horizon and beyond. This setting explores:
- The Eryxians: The diverse humanoid inhabitants of Eryxia, each adapted to unique niches and possessing fragmented knowledge of a lost past.
- The Ancient Legacy: The remnants of a technologically advanced civilization that once spanned this region of space, leaving behind enigmatic ruins, bio-engineered creatures, and unanswered questions.
