This is a rack made from 4 pieces of 1m 20x20mm extrusion from OpenBuilds. The width and depth are the same, so the side panels etc. are interchangeable with the front panel items. The square footprint provides nice depth for everything. Everything is mounted with post assembly T-nuts so they don't need to be slid out, however the top plates were milled with clearance to drop pre-assembly nuts in if desired.

All the blanking panels and sides are acrylic sheets cut and held in with modular retainer clips so they can be easily changed to add more room etc. They are translucent but sanded to be frosted so they glow nicely when the lights are out.

The PDU is a power strip is mounted on the rear that plugs into an old CyberPower UPS mounted on the wall under the server shelf. USB power is from a USB charging hub.

Cooling is achieved with 2x 80mm fans on the back bottom, with vents on the top sides.

The bottom 1U is currently a drawer holding patch cables, mounting hardware, and hex drivers. The screen at the top is mainly just for fun when I realized how it fit so well in that size, its currently just showing a grafana panel with Prometheus data on it. It is touch screen as well so I could use it for more than its currently doing.

All the rack mounts are either off Printables or custom designed for the items in the rack.

Currently loaded with:

Device Model Purpose
Dell Optiplex Micro Proxmox with: Grafana, Prometheus, Influx, Mosquitto, Home Assist VM
Raspberry Pi3 Screen Kiosk, Pihole fallback
Raspberry Pi4 Pihole
Raspberry Pi5 Frigate, NVME drive, Connected to the Coral
QNAP TS-133 Plex + Media storage
TP-Link SG-108 Unmanaged switch
Google Coral TPU Processing Frigate cam feeds

It's currently pulling meshtastic data via MQTT, as well as ESP Easy sensor data also with MQTT. I am running a OpenMHZ trunked radio feed on a PI in the attic that I hope to eventually move into the rack, and feed the antenna over the network using a Pi zero on the antenna. https://openmhz.com/system/saratoga
