The project is currently not well maintained.

Speaking for myself, I have not used the PTP protocol for many years. So it is difficult for me to test PR or answer questions. Plus, I'm constantly busy with other projects, kids, etc. so it's even harder. I think other maintainers of this project have similar problems.

If you are anybody interested in maintaining this project, please respond to this issue with a short "CV" along the lines of:

  • What is your interest in the Precision Time Protocol (not limited to the PTPd itself)?
  • Do you have any other contributions to the open-source community?
  • Anything else we should know

Others please express your opinion e.g. by using the smiley icon below each post. The current @ptpd/owners have priority in this "election" process, but if none of them respond, your opinions will be very valuable.

Hello J, I thought by this time many folks might have replied already.

I can possibly help on some open items for protocol-aspects, general PTP Q&A from what I know. Timing & Synchronization has always kept coming back to me in my work with multiple organizations and remained my preferred area.

I have looked at some open/todo items, however, I'd like to understand the direction the project has to go/take, as well as discussing any significant contributions back to the Trunk from the forked/downstream repos. A virtual call (or a message exchange on linkedin etc) would be really helpful to get to some common understanding. I can carve some time to address challenges, or discuss some strategic areas but was also wondering if the forked repos have moved much ahead already in terms of additions and features.

I currently work with HPE and contributions are mostly with respective companies/projects I worked with. You may refer my Linkedin profile here.

Hi there, I would also be interested in maintaining the PTPd project.

I have used PTP v2 and v3 for awhile, currently work with it, and have found timing to be an engaging issue in computing.
I do not have many open-source contributions, mainly closed source. I have raised issues that I've found in open source repositories, but I am looking to contribute more.

There are many open issues which I would like to address and close, as well as checking out forks of the repository to see what we could merge upstream, to move PTPd forward. As with Jagmeet's response I would also like to establish an initial meet to determine project goals and future steps.
