So that it's truly distraction-free.

And as soon as you exit out of full-screen with Esc or F11, you also quit out of distraction mode and get back to where you were before you entered. This is so that staying in fullscreen would be a requirement for this mode, and so that intuitive single key shortcuts could exit it.
