undefined reference to 'nifti_datatype_to_string'

Hello,

I am trying to install statismo following the instructions in https://github.com/statismo/statismo/wiki/buildinstructions. When I run "make", I get the following error in multiple examples and executables:

/usr/lib/libITKgiftiio-4.12.so.1: undefined reference to `nifti_datatype_to_string'

Any ideas for solving this issue?
