There have been several discussions across teams over the past couple of years about a possible web-based Stellar development sandbox, which we've dubbed the Stellar Playground. Core issue stellar/stellar-core#2695 tracks the past conversations and our current vision of what it might be. (We've also had some design conversations in a Google Doc.)
We're planning to close stellar/stellar-core#2695 because the initial support in stellar-core itself has been done under stellar/stellar-core#2696 . The next step if we continue Playground development will be in Horizon, to learn how to use the "enhanced" manualclose interface and to provide some initial Playground-specific APIs to be called by a runtime. So I'm filing this issue to track that potential work.
