As far as I can see, at the architecture level, a "Release" file typically also created.
Example: https://nginx.org/packages/ubuntu/dists/trusty/nginx/binary-amd64/

Archive: stable
Component: nginx
Origin: nginx
Label: nginx
Architecture: amd64
Description: nginx apt repository

I don't know if this is critical or not.
