Environment

  • TeXstudio: 4.8.6
  • Qt: 6.8.2
  • OS: MacOS 16.3.1, M1 cpu
  • TeX distribution:

Expected behavior

An "X" appears on the left of each window tab when you mouse-over. Clicking here will close that window.

Actual behavior

The "X" does not appear. However if your mouse hovers over where it would appear, the tool-tip does show up, saying "Close Tab".

How to reproduce

Open a file in TexStudio. Move mouse to the tab at the top which contains the name of the file.

Image

The attached image shows the tab for a file open in TexStudio, with the mouse (not visible in the screenshot) hovering over where the "X" mark would appear to close that file. You can see the tool tip in the img, but not the "X".

@czi-sunil There is no macOS 16 yet. Perhaps you meant 15.3.1?

Yes, my mistake. It is MacOS 15.3.1.

BTW, I also found TexStudio ver 4.8.6 (MacOS, m1) to crash on my machine. It unexpectedly quit a few times, so I've reverted back to 4.8.4, which was the last version I was using.
