Environment

TeXstudio: 4.8.7
Qt: 6.9.0, compiled with Qt 6.9.0 R
OS: Sequoia 15.4.1
TeX distribution: Texlive

How to reproduce

  1. Open Texstudio by click on .tex file
  2. Preferences -> GUI scaling Make Main Toolbar GUI scaling smaller and click ok
  3. Observe first problem: After the preference dialogue is gone, the icons show in the larger default size again.
  4. Close Texstudio
  5. Open Texstudio by click on .tex file
  6. Observe how Texstudio has properly adjusted to the freshly set smaller icon size
  7. Open Preferences -> Build and add a blank at the end of one of your user commands and click ok
  8. Observer second problem: After the preference dialogue is gone, the icons show in the larger default size again.
  9. Close Texstudio
  10. Open Texstudio by click on .tex file
  11. Observe how Texstudio has properly adjusted to the originally set smaller icon size

Expected behavior

  1. When the user has made the icons smaller they actually should stay smaller and not return to default size after closing the preferences dialogue. This defeats the purpose of the live monitoring of the scaling in the first run.
  2. It is perfectly fine if the implementation expects a restart after a UI parameter change has been made. But then the UI parameter change should persist and not just arbitrarily undo (as in second problem above)
