Uncaught ReferenceError: require is not defined #830

I am trying to use swiper.js in my project (installed via npm). However, in the browser console I am shown a message saying "require is not defined".

I put the code in the global.js file

import 'swiper/swiper-bundle.css';
import Swiper, { Navigation, Pagination } from 'swiper';

Swiper.use([Navigation, Pagination]);

What am I doing wrong?
