Introduction
This proposal outlines the budget for ySupport operations for the June-August 2025 cycle. The team will continue to provide user assistance, maintain community safety, and manage support tools. Building on previous work, focus this cycle is on the ongoing refinement and operation of the live AI-assisted ySupport bot to further improve team efficiency, and maintenance of yPort, yDeposits, and all other automation tools.
Scope
ySupport operates across Discord, Telegram, and Reddit as the primary user contact point. Responsibilities include:
- User Assistance: Troubleshooting technical issues, guiding users through vault and transaction interactions, and answering inquiries about Yearn, Bearn, and DeFi.
- Scam Prevention: Monitoring channels, managing Discord Automod, and manually removing scammers.
- AI Bot Operation & Refinement: Managing the ySupport bot, continuously improving its responses based on user interactions, and expanding its capabilities using LLM, RPC, and Yearn APIs, and RAG for Yearn and Bearn documentation.
- Tool Maintenance: Ensuring stability and usefulness of yPort, yDeposits, and all other automation tools, with incremental improvements.
- Documentation Collaboration: Working with the devdocs maintainer on user guides and FAQs.
- Community Management: Delist manages the yearn.social Telegram group for YFI/Yearn discussions.
Notable metrics: In the last cycle, ySupport handled 100+ user inquiries and 400+ scam bans per month.
Plan
- Consistent Support: Provide timely and accurate assistance for user inquiries related to Yearn and Bearn, supplemented by the ySupport bot, and interfacing with relevant yTeams for more direct and accurate responses.
- Vigilant Security: Continue monitoring and removing scammers. Maintain and adapt Discord Automod.
- ySupport Bot Enhancement: Monitor the live bot's performance, refine prompts and RAG based on actual query data, improve function calling for data retrieval, and potentially expand the scope of queries it handles effectively. Adapt to new Bearn data and information.
- Tool Upkeep: Maintain yPort and yDeposits, addressing critical bugs and applying minor enhancements. Monitor, maintain, and potentially improve automation tools.
- Knowledge Sharing: Collaborate with the documentation team on guides and FAQs.
- Web and UI Triage: Collaborate with the WebOps team to identify, prioritize, and resolve web and UI issues.

The proposed compensation reflects the overall time commitment required to fulfill all outlined responsibilities. This includes consistent monitoring of support channels and security alerts, handling user inquiries performing security tasks, maintaining tools, and operating and developing the ySupport bot.
The amounts for J and BarryPooter incorporate estimated personal operational expenses required for ySupport functions. For J, this includes costs for VPS hosting, LLM API credits, vector database fees, automation subscriptions, and RPC queries. For BarryPooter, this includes costs related to support tools.
This budget structure covers contributor compensation and reimbursement for necessary operational costs for ySupport activities.
