Description
The functionality of l3regex is now available from the latex kernel, so loading the package separately is no longer necessary. In fact
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{coloring}
\begin{document}
content...
\end{document}
will result in an error with a current latex distribution:
! LaTeX Error: File `l3regex.sty' not found.
Type X to quit or <RETURN> to proceed,
or enter new name. (Default extension: sty)
Enter file name:
! Emergency stop.
