We don't spend enough time in the car, or on the phone, to make huge use of a charger -- but it's the kind of thing you really want to have just in case. So I looked around and found a zillion brands and options. We chose this one and bought it two years ago.
Some phones can take advantage of a slightly faster charge via PD that they negotiate with the charger via PPS. (Google will explain better than I can). The higher speed is only available on the C port because that's part of the PD spec.
At first I only had an A-to-C cable to test with my phone, and it worked. I got a high-speed rated C-C USB cable, and the phone charged way faster. So I'm happy because this can handle any older device that only has a USB-A cable, but can fast-charge my phone.
I've had generally good experience with Belkin products for many years and this item seems pretty durable. I don't leave it plugged in and I don't get it dirty, so I expect it will last.
