Blu-ray Sales: October 27-November 2: Deadpool & Wolverine Go Trick 'r Treating in Second Week

 For the week that ended on November 2nd, Walt Disney Home Entertainment and 20th Century Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine remained atop both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its second week. The 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and the first not to be rated PG-13 in the United States) functioned both as the third film in the Deadpool franchise and as a team-up between Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, two long running, fan favorite portrayals of the Marvel heroes which had been part of the former 20th Century Fox and had not been seen for several years. Smashing box office records when it opened in July 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine has grossed over $636 million domestically and over $1.3 billion worldwide so far, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time (surpassing Joker (2019) by around $300 million) and the second-highest-grossing film of 2024 to date, behind only Inside Out 2. This week, Deadpool & Wolverine had an HD share of 63% and 27% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Remaining in second place on both charts in its second week is Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Twisters. The long-gestating sequel to the 1996 film Twister finally opened in July 2024--a week before Deadpool & Wolverine--to mostly positive reviews and box office success, eventually grossing over $267 million domestically and $370 million worldwide. This week, Twisters sold 35% as many Blu-ray units as Deadpool & Wolverine, with an HD share of 49% and 18% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
And remaining in third place on both charts in its second week is Lionsgate Home Entertainment's Borderlands. An adaptation of the video game series of the same name, Borderlands failed to impress fans and critics alike, opening in fourth place in August 2024 and grossing about $15 million domestically and $33 million worldwide on a reported budget of well over $100 million. This week, Borderlands again sold 8% as many Blu-ray units as Deadpool & Wolverine, with an HD share of 55% and 13% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Elsewhere on the Blu-ray-only chart, Arrow Video's Trick 'r Treat, along with Paramount Home Media Distribution's Zodiac (2007) and Addams Family Values, all three of which were released on 4K UHD this week, came in at Nos. 4, 5 and 7, respectively. Outside the top ten, Shout Factory's Drag Me to Hell and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! 4K, two more 4K UHD upgrades this week, came in at Nos. 14 and 16, while Arrow's J-Horror Rising (1999-2007) box set and Kino Lorber's horror anthology series The Classic Ghosts (1973) rounded out the top twenty Blu-rays at Nos. 19 and 20, respectively.
Outside the top ten on the UHD Sellers chart, Shout's Shocker 4K came in at No. 13.
