Formed in Paris in 1988, Malka Family is a legendary figure of French funk, known for their explosive energy and unforgettable live performances.
With a dozen musicians and vocalists on board, the band carved out a unique sound blending funk, groove, and a dose of that unmistakable French eccentricity.
A true musical UFO, Malka Family is funk in Technicolor, a live experience packed with joy, rhythm, and collective euphoria.
Their debut album Malka On The Beach dropped in 1991, laying the foundation of their raw, danceable, and wildly communal funk identity. The buzz was immediate, and soon after, they signed with Warner Music France for their second album, Tous des Ouf, released in 1992 — a bold, funky space opera that featured legends like Sidney (Hip Hop), Dee Nasty, Marco Prince (FFF), and Juan Rozoff.
“There are only two other bands I can think of who are capable of conveying a similar sense of spontaneity, energy and enjoyment: the JB’s and Parliament/Funkadelic. Yes, Malka Family are that good…”
