Mutant Star was formed in 2000 by two members of the Demimonde Alliance, a creative collective that emerged from Prague's vibrant underground scene in the 1990s. The alliance was known for its boundary-pushing artistry and eclectic music, and Demimonde itself gained notable recognition with their dark rock album, Mutant Star, which garnered a strong following in the Czech music charts. The electronic sound of Mutant Star draws deep influence from the Goa trance movement of the 90s, a genre that was thriving in underground parties and creating waves in the global trance scene. However, Mutant Star didn’t merely mimic the style—it took Goa trance to new heights, adding its own unique flavor and pushing the genre forward. Their music was designed to capture the energy and the spirit of the psychedelic party scene, and most of their tracks would seamlessly fit into any Psy-Trance party, providing an immersive experience that resonates with those who appreciate the deeper, more experimental side of the genre. The project was named after Demimonde’s first studio album, Mutant Star, which was released in 2000 under the Czech label EPIDEMIE RECORDS. This was the catalyst for Mutant Star’s establishment, marking the beginning of their journey into the world of psychedelic trance. Initially, Mutant Star was a collaborative effort between Anka and Afagddu, but as the project progressed, Anka became the sole driving force behind it.
