Festival accreditations
AN ACCREDITATION, FOR WHAT REASON?
The Festival de Cannes is primarily reserved for film professionals and the trade press. However, programs such as Cannes Cinéma, 3 Days in Cannes and the Cinéma de la Plage enable the public to enjoy the event.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FESTIVAL ACCREDITATION AND A MARCHÉ DU FILM ACCREDITATION?
Festival accreditations give access to professional areas (Palais des Festivals, Riviera, Pantiero), the films of the Official Selection as well as the parallel sections (Director’s Fortnight and the Semaine de la Critique). These accreditations do not give access to screenings that take place in the Marché du Film (Film Market).
Marché du Film accreditations include the Festival’s access, but they also include access to the Film Market screenings (which take place either in the Riviera rooms, or in some rooms of the Palais des Festivals, or in some venues in Cannes) depending on the type of badge as well as the available seats. They are usually reserved to buyers (such as distributors), but any company can purchase a Market badge if its activity related to the film industry is formerly approved.
Certain professional categories have to submit their accreditation request through the Marché du Film. To know whether you belong to one of these categories, please consult the list of professionals and their distribution.
As the Marché du Film badge includes all Festival participation rights and access to screenings, it is not necessary to register with the Festival if you make your request through the Marché du Film.
IS THERE A COST FOR ACCREDITATION?
During registration, only a €24 environmental contribution (tax incl.) is requested. This financial participation will be refunded in the event that your accreditation request is denied.
WHAT IS THE ENVIRONMENTAL CONTRIBUTION THAT IS TO BE PAID UPON MAKING A REQUEST FOR ACCREDITATION?
The environmental contribution allows to offset the carbon emissions generated by accredited parties traveling to and staying in Cannes. Emissions attributable to travel to Cannes and accommodation for accredited guests account for over 90% of the event’s carbon footprint each year. This contribution is part of the Festival de Cannes’ green policy. The funds raised through these environmental contributions will be donated in full to environmental projects.
I WISH TO SUBMIT MORE THAN ONE REQUEST AT A TIME, IS THAT POSSIBLE?
You have the possibility to submit request for another person, as well as for a group of people.
In that case, you can create a personal account and submit your own application for an accreditation, as well as requests for the group you wish to coordinate the submissions for.
As a consequence, you will be registered automatically as the “contact” person coordinating this group.
I HAVE A MULTIDISCIPLINARY PROFILE, IN WICH CATEGORY DO I HAVE TO SUBMIT MY ACCREDITATION?
In order to submit your professional accreditation request, it is mandatory to select a professional category. In the case of multiple activities, we invite you to choose the category representing your most recent professional activity.
Using the documents provided (your CV, website, etc.), we will consider all your professional activities in order to assess your application. If it is accepted, you will be allocated the accreditation that best corresponds to your line of work. We remind you that only one accreditation per person is authorised.
I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL IN THE FILM INDUSTRY, CAN I STILL TAKE PART IN THE FESTIVAL DE CANNES?
The Festival de Cannes is a cultural event aimed at professionals working in the film industry. Nevertheless, we do offer a type of non-professional accreditation for film buffs. To find out more about the criteria for eligibility and the registration procedures, click here.
We also offer accreditations to young people aged between 18 and 28 as part of our “3 Days in Cannes” programme. To find out more about the eligibility criteria and registration procedures, click here.
HOW TO OBTAIN AN ACCREDITATION?
From February 3rd, through your personal account, you will be able to register online, attach the requested documents justifying your experience in your professional field, and follow the evolution of your accreditation request.
Please note that any type of accreditation is not automatically granted from one year to another. Therefore, it is compulsory to submit a request each year through your personal account to attend the Festival de Cannes.
HOW TO KNOW WHETHER MY ACCREDITATION REQUEST HAS BEEN WELL RECEIVED?
Once you have validated each step of the submission form, an email confirming the deposit of your accreditation request will be sent automatically.
We invite you to follow regularly the evolution of your request online through your personal account.
WHEN WILL I GET A RESPONSE TO MY SUBMISSION?
Given the very large number of requests received, the response time can be relatively long as we get closer to the Festival.
The Registration Department in charge of your accreditation request will get back to you within the shortest delays.
WHAT KIND OF ACCESS GIVES A CINEPHILE ACCREDITATION?
Cinephile accreditation gives access to the films of the Official Selection (Competition, Out of Compétition, Special Screenings, Cannes Premiere, Un Certain Regard, Cannes Classics, Cinéma de la Plage), of the Semaine de la Critique and the Directors’ Fortnight in some Cannes’ theatres.
WHAT DO I GET WITH THE “THREE DAYS IN CANNES” ACCREDITATION?
The “3 Days in Cannes” accreditation gives passholders access to films in the Official Selection (Competition, Out of Competition, Cannes Premiere, Special Screenings, Un Certain Regard, Cannes Classics, Cinéma de la Plage) and to the Palais des Festivals, as well as a dedicated programme at the Les Arcades cinema over the last three days.
WHEN AND WHERE CAN I COLLECT MY ACCREDITATION BADGE?
You can pick up your badge at the Gare Maritime (located to the right of the Casino Croisette) or at the automatic dispensers at La Pantiero, on presentation of your accreditation confirmation and ID, from May, 12. For more information, please consult the “Festival Guide” tab.
Screenings
WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS TO ACCESS THE SCREENINGS?
Festival badges and tickets are valid for Official Selection screenings (Grand Théâtre Lumière, Debussy, Buñuel, Bazin, Agnès Varda and Cineum theatres). Screenings at the Cinéma de la Plage are free. For further details, please consult the Your Festival Experience and the Festival-goer’s Charter.
WHAT TIME DO I ARRIVE FOR MY SCREENINGS?
The exact time you have to arrive at the screening is indicated on your ticket. Please make sure to respect this time.
Due to the Vigipirate system and the enhanced security measures in force, access to the Palais, and to the screening rooms located in the Festival Zone, can be affected by security checks. We advise you to take these possible delays into account when planning your arrival.
Note that once the screening begins, access to the venue is no longer possible and this will be considered a “no-show”, with the corresponding penalties.
WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT GALA SCREENINGS?
Gala screenings are the world premiere of films shown at the Grand Théâtre Lumière, with the artistic team involved in attendance. The aim of these screenings is to celebrate the films and their teams. The Red Carpet ceremony is primarily intended for them. The ceremony is designed to ensure fluidity, safety and respect for the schedule.
If you have obtained a ticket for one of these screenings, please consult the Festival-goer’s Charter, available soon.
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE ALLOWED IN THE FESTIVAL CINEMAS?
The Festival de Cannes is an event for film professionals and is therefore reserved for adults. Exemptions may be granted to accompanied minors.
As the films screened have not yet received age ratings, it is up to the accompanying adult to assess whether the film may be viewed by a minor. The Festival reserves the right, depending on the nature of the films, to discourage the presence of minors in the theatre.
In order to avoid any disturbance, infants are not allowed in screening rooms.
IS THERE A DRESS CODE WHEN ATTENDING SCREENINGS?
For the Grand Théâtre Lumière gala screenings taking place around 7 and 10 p.m., which are attended by the artistic teams, evening wear (long dress, tuxedo) is required. Alternatively, you may also wear “a little black dress,” a cocktail dress, a dark-colored pantsuit, a dressy top with black pants; elegant shoes and sandals with or without a heel ; a black or navy-blue suit with bow-tie or dark-colored tie. Tote-bags, backpacks or large bags are prohibited during gala screenings. Lockers, open until 12:30 a.m. are available near the Gare Maritime.
For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the Red Carpet, as well as in any other area of the Festival.
Voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater are not permitted.
The Festival welcoming teams will be obligated to prohibit Red Carpet access to anyone not respecting these rules.
For all other screenings, proper attire is sufficient.
Online ticket office
WHEN DOES THE TICKET OFFICE OPEN?
Online ticketing for the 78th Festival de Cannes will open on May 5, 2025. Reservations will be available from May 9, 2025.
HOW DO I ACCESS THE TICKET OFFICE?

You can connect by means of a personal username and password that you have received by email following confirmation of your accreditation.
AS OF WHEN CAN I RESERVE A SCREENING?
For each screening, and depending on your type of accreditation, which determines the availability times for the tickets, reservations open between 4 days and 1 hour before the screening. Tickets may be made available at any time during this period.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I HAVE PROBLEMS ON THE ONLINE TICKET OFFICE?
From Monday May 5, 2025, from 9am to 6pm, after-sales service will be available by e-mail at [email protected].
And from Tuesday May 13, 2025, the ticket office will also be open from 9am to 6pm in the Hall Méditerranée.
HOW DO I USE MY E-TICKET?
When you obtain a ticket, it is visible online and thereby confirms your reservation. The ticket’s QR code, which is compulsory for admission to the cinema, is generated the day before the screening
Your QR Code tickets are available from your ticketing account and can be shown straight from your smartphone to gain access to the venue, with no download necessary. However, if you prefer to download your ticket (for example, in the event of a poor connection at the venue entrance preventing access to your account), we recommend that you do so via your Wallet.
To do this, simply click on “add to wallet” on the session page. Wallet is the most secure way to download your ticket.
CAN I BUY A TICKET?
Tickets issued by the Festival de Cannes are free of charge, and it is strictly forbidden to sell them, under penalty of prosecution. If you buy a ticket from a third party, you also expose yourself to the same legal risks.
I DIDN’T OBTAIN A TICKET FOR A SCREENING. IS IT STILL POSSIBLE FOR ME TO ATTEND?
If you did not obtain a ticket for a screening, you can go to the “last minute” access area with your accreditation. In 2024, 15,000 seats were allocated thanks to these last minute queues. At the Cineum, a majority of festival attendees who showed up to a screening, even without a ticket, were able to see the film.
I CAN’T ATTEND A SCREENING, SHOULD I CANCEL?
All tickets received must be used. In the event you are unable to attend, you must return your ticket to your distribution office (if your accreditation links you to an office) or to the Central Ticket Office, Hall Méditerranée). If you have obtained an electronic ticket, all you need to do is cancel it in your ticket office account.
Failure to do so will lead to the following consequences: after 2 no shows from an accredited attendee, his or her ability to reserve tickets will be automatically blocked for a period of 24 hours.
Tickets must be given back or cancelled 1 hour at the latest ahead of screenings. These rules do not apply to journalists.
WHERE CAN I FIND LAST MINUTE TICKETS?
Once connected to the online ticket office, you will be able to access the new dedicated page “Last available seats” from the menu or from the “Ticketing Tips” sidebar. This page highlights the seats still available on the day, as well as those for the following day.
